Vom fass, at the Paulaner pub down by the Weser in Bremen. Dave says, ’sweet tarmac nose’. Sprinkle of Dry Roasted. Watery Westy nuts n’ choc, hazelnut and cookieish softness creeping in at the end. Liquorice? Gentle, but good.

Bottle, 500ml. A clear brown colour with a good head. A malty aroma. Taste is burnt malt (tastes very much like raw, dark malted barley) with a slight underlying hoppiness which adds a hint of citrus to lighten the brew up a little. Light carbonation. Doesn’t seem much like a dunkel, but a nice brew anyhow.
