Commercial Description:
When the Original Münchner was brewed for the first time at the end of the 19th Century, it was a spectacular success. With its hoppy taste, subtle, light and elegant, it becomes ever popular. Today the Paulaner Original Münchner is the best sold Münchner Hellbier (lager beer) in the world and Paulaner's No. 1 export beer in over 30 countries with its wonderfully subtle, spicy, naturally hearty taste.

Pours bright gold into a stein. Bright white head with medium retention leaves slight lacing as it recedes. Sweet wet dog and popcorn aromas. Crisp corn upfront with a metallic pepper finish.

Pale golden yellow. An almost pungent skunk aroma. Taste is of skunk with bitter finish. The bottle is 8 months old, so perhaps this contributes to the not so favorable aroma and taste. I will take this into consideration and perhaps re-rate at a later date.

12 oz bottle. Pours the clearest shade of gold with a small white head that quickly fades. Sweet malty aroma with hints of grain, corn and vegtables. Although the aroma was nothing great the flavor was even weaker with a watered down sweet malty backbone. Light watery body with light carbonation. Nothing to seek out.

(Bottle) Pours a golden straw color with a large white head. Aroma of light hop and smooth grains. Not particularly hoppy in my opinion, despite the description. Light yeast flavors in the finish. The solid, clean flavor is nothing really overly special... but it’s still a great beer to drink on a regular basis.

Biggish very white shiny lasting head. Golden body. Clean fruity straw aroma with minty grassy notes. Dryish straw and fruit taste. Clean, soft mouthfeel. Harmonic and balanced. A bit chalky. Dry apple and grass aftertaste with minty notes and traces of oranges. Very nice. (0.5l bottle, Rewe, München.)

Draught at Bier Markt King West. Bright & clear golden with a good sized white head. Very inviting aroma of toasted malt and spicy/herbal hops with a hint of cereal. Medium mouthfeel with a tingly finish from the carbonation. Flavour follows the aroma, with the hops developing a slight lemony note in the finish. A really enjoyable lager.

Bottled: Golden ale. White head. Malty sweet aroma and flavour with some hoppy notes. Very well balanced.
