Aroma was weak. Pilsner malt and a hint of stale hops. Pour was a light gold with no head or bubbles. Taste was sticky and thick. A hint of spicy hops that carried through in the somewhat bitter aftertaste. Left the mouth feeling wet and filmy. Blah. Slayer85 (590), Firenze, Italy
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottled. A clear blonde beer with a huge at the beginning, but fast fading white head. Rather simple aroma, some maltiness, some cereals and a light hop note. The flavour is sweet, with a light hopping and some grainy notes. Not as brilliant as the best Paulaner, nor the best helles. Soft mouthfeel, light to medium body, lively carbonation, short/medium finish, with light bitterness. Some crispiness, but watery palate can’t help. Commercial. This is an excellent drinkable helles. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Aroma is light and grainy/bready, a little maly character. No hops in the nose. Appearance is pale gold and crystal clear. Thin tight white head with some lace. Flavor is malty, grainy and balanced a little towards the sweet side. Some bitterness. A nice richness to the malt. Light on the palate, smooth, dry finish. Very drinkable. The nose is grassy with hints of straw and gooseberries. Grainy and very sweet characteristics accompanied by a slight metallic component. The aroma reminds me somewhat of porridge. Decent and distinctively german. The taste is mainly of pale malt with some lemon sneaking in. The bitterness is quite low. Light bodied. Some goosberries showing up. Melissa and lemon in the finish. Slightly soapy. A very nice lager.
