It is bright, clear, deep gold with a big white head that slowly shrinks to a smaller lasting head that leaves some lacing. The aroma is wonderful - strong, lightly toasted bread, crackers, grain, hints of honey, pine, and citrus. The taste is similar and also full-bodied, with a lot of toasted grain and bread, hints of hney and pine, but more citrus, especially lemon. It has a nice full sweetness balanced by a pleasant light bitterness that persists through to the end, with a bready finish balanced with hops. It is a bit oily, very smooth, and incredible drinkable, with nice subtly complex flavours that persist. sanmiguel (118), Illinois, USA

It had a very hoppy and malty scent to it. A little too much carbonation in my opinion. Paulaner has grassy hops, fruity aftertaste (possibly citrus or banana). Has a faint bitter finish. Very refreshing and easy to drink with. Paulaner Munich Hell could be my standard German lager! Way better than Beck’s and Warsteiner! mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA

Just a clean crisp lager but with rich flavor. It taste like traditinal "Beer" but it is worlds away of what some Americans think a lager should taste like. It was like I had died and gone to heaven. A beer that was not dry, not too sweet a touch of hops that died quickly and went down easy. Really the easiest most pleasurable beer I ever drank. It is ashamed that we in the states don’t drink more Helles instead of pilsners. I really liked it. If my wife liked it, then you know it must be good. nobackwash (10), Miami, Florida, USA

Sweet lead-off is balanced with a gentle bitterness but finishes malty. Medium body with moderate carbonation makes for easy consumption. Amazingly clean without tasting "sterile". Truly world class and from the source. Perceptron (32), USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | May 5, 2004 Tettnanger hops! It’s gotta be Tettnanger as I had just finished up brewing a kölsch with a huge dump of tett in there and then I popped the top on my can (yes, I bought a case of cans of this) of Munchner and got that very same hop aroma. In cans this is wonderful stuff. I think most lagers ought to be distributed in cans unless the brewery is local. This is what lagers are all about, of course it has a light and delicate aroma and taste, of course it’s thirst quenching. There are no off or adjunct flavors in this one.
