Poured an amber color with a nice off-white head. Very malty nose with some fruits involved. Very rich mouthfeel, and just slides down the throat. Well balanced. A good brew. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 15, 2005 On tap at the Huber Haus. Rich dark amber in color. White dynamic head. We drank this out of a friendship glass with seven little numbers printed around the top of the 1L fluted glass. Aroma was a rich malty caramel nose. Flavor was outstanding nutty and toasted malt. Strong sweetness is well balanced by the higher level of hops. A good beer to share with your friends. Just stay off my number. rauchbier (3002), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2002 Bottled. Copper bronze, low head and moderate condition. Malty aromas with a spicy background of chocolate and a hint of melanoidin character. Sweet fruity malt in the mouth with more chocolate roast bitterness to balance and a chewy finish with a slight but lingering hop bitterness. Almost a pale version of a dunkel, if thats possible.

Inviting aroma of caramely, spicy malt laced with fresh noble hops. Crystal clear amber with foamy white top that drops to a thin cover. Strong, yet crisp, spicy malt--almost black peppery--with plenty of German hops. Slight walnut flavour playing of the noticable elevated ethanol. Also a touch of dried fruit and tobacco. Medium carbonation, medium body, spicy finish.
