| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Aroma is floral, light caramel, malty sweet, light alcohols, & slightly doughy. Appearance is from a 3 to a 5 depending on the bottle I get, some crystal clear, others not so much. Lovely orange hue with decent dense head and small lacing. Flavor is very clean & malty, perfect for style. Well bittered for a dopplebock, more so than other examples. Slight grain/cereal flavor on the finish but dominated with smooth caramel munich grain flavors, malt bomb with lots of alcohol at the end. This is one of the better biers available from a mouthfeel standpoint, simply silky, viscous, think big IIPA but with malt in terms of mouthfeel. Viscous yet very drinkable. Overall this bier is a favorite, goes great with many many meals, it’s well balanced though I tend to prefer less bitterness in a dopplebock. The knock is that it’s simply too alcoholic in flavor. Very good example of the style, love the bier, but it’s just a bit too alcohol forward. boomerbrew (54), Texas, USA

Very nice nutty, coffee, carmal and other conplex flavors. Low hop flavors but bittering hop on palate. good overall and balanced for high alcohol beer. Oddefellowe (64), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Translucent, more red than brown with a quickly dissipating off white head. A sweet scent of alcohol and malts resound. Mild sweetness, roasty malts, subtle coffee notes, mild mouthfeel, light carbonation. A pleasant brew but not something outstanding. danielst (161), Vienna, Austria
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2009 50cl bottle: Syrupy, malty aroma with clean notes of whiskey-ish alcohol and caramel. This beer is characterised by its assertive, crisp and straightforward malt flavours - toasty, bready and a little bit roasty or chocolatey. All other components are kept subtle and merely attempt to balance the sweet maltiness. Soft and full mouthfeel from the residual sugars but not cloying, the alcohol is definitely noticeable. Copper red in colour. Simple and good winter warmer. Niko100 (157), New York, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2009 A clear amber colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of little burned malt with fruits like berries and citrus. The taste is some bitter with sweet caramel, a little dry. The aftertaste is bitter with some sweet. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Lot’s of warm, dark roasted flavours in this one, from nose to mouth. Burnt chocolate, mexican coffee beans, beef stew and simmering mild cider. Palate is smooth and sweet with a nice warm caramel and malt finish. Nothing over the top at all.
