greedycheater (73), Oklahoma, USA Apr 16, 2008 Sweet, heavy aroma of caramel and roasted malt. Solid amber, clear pour. Full mouth feel with a long finish. Heavy malt taste with little hops. Hints of grape and black pepper, and something bourbon-like, almost like it has been cask aged. It is smooth and easy to drink. Salvator, the Savior, is to have been the beverage that got monks and/or priests through Lent and periods of fasting because of it’s bread like filling effect (perhaps that was before Paulaner took over its brewing). Now that I think about it - there is a certain rye bread quality to the taste. One of my favorites.

Slightly oxidized flavor combined with dark fruit, malts, and yeasty FatTony (98), Augusta, Georgia, USA Jul 11, 2008 12 ounce bottle- poured a rich amber-gold with a fair, but short-lived head. Aroma was dried fruit. Taste was dark fruit and very slightly floral. Very nice. Big points for the silky smooth palate. A good one. mugabe (169), Sweden Jul 10, 2008 Bottle. Dark ruby, dissipating head. Sweet aroma of burnt sugar and caramel malts. Sweet spicy flavour of dark fruits and dark sugar with a distinct alcohol sting. Very nice cookie dough finish. Like a less refined Belgian, but great value for money. bager (1867), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 10, 2008 On tap @ Ølbaren. Clear and deep amber coloured with a medium sized wihte head. Ok balanced - a bit to the sweet side - notes of bread, caramel, metal and hops.
