| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a frothy white head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet caramel and toffee with some dark fruit and a little alcohol.
The flavor is sweet caramel and toffee and nuts with a little fruit leading to a lightly grassy bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a good example of a doppelbock. A little too much on the sweet side for me.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle thanks to Gregg. Pours a nice dark brown with a thin tan head. A little bit of yeast floats atop the head. Aroma is roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. Notes of dark fruits, allspice, and burnt malts come out as well. On the palate, it is a little sweet and a bit chewy. The finish is a tad bit dry. I was really impressed with this beer and hope to have some again. tastybeer (123), Washington DC, USA
