Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a frothy white head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet caramel and toffee with some dark fruit and a little alcohol.

The flavor is sweet caramel and toffee and nuts with a little fruit leading to a lightly grassy bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a good example of a doppelbock. A little too much on the sweet side for me.

Rich cider/amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of smoky malt, dark fruit, & brown sugar; Flavor of sweet malt, dark fruit, and caramel with light chocolate overtones; Nice warm alcohol finish; Overall, the body is not as rich as other double-bocks, but it’s great nonetheless.

A clear amber colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of little burned malt with fruits like berries and citrus. The taste is some bitter with sweet caramel, a little dry. The aftertaste is bitter with some sweet.

Lot’s of warm, dark roasted flavours in this one, from nose to mouth. Burnt chocolate, mexican coffee beans, beef stew and simmering mild cider. Palate is smooth and sweet with a nice warm caramel and malt finish. Nothing over the top at all.

Bottle thanks to Gregg. Pours a nice dark brown with a thin tan head. A little bit of yeast floats atop the head. Aroma is roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. Notes of dark fruits, allspice, and burnt malts come out as well. On the palate, it is a little sweet and a bit chewy. The finish is a tad bit dry. I was really impressed with this beer and hope to have some again.

This beer is amazing. Pours dark brown with tons of head. Tastes like applejuice, lots of apple and sweetness. Goes down easy with no alcohol flavor. Would (and will) drink again.

Bottle. Deep amber color. Rich caramel malt aroma with honey and dark fruit. Soft, rich, luscious dark malt flavor, with caramel, honey, chocolate and some dark fruit. Alcohol works to balance. Thick, round, soft, slightly salty. A fine bock.

Bottle. Pours clear mahogney/red with a 2 inch creamy tan head. Aroma of strong caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Taste of caramel, heavy malty intence body, no detecteble hops here, just lots of sweet delicious malt
