Malty...less acidic than some other examples, but still has a nice tangy finish, This beer is quite drinkable and enjoyable. The alcohol content is barely detectable. A perfect oud bruin for novices and experts alike. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 14, 2005 Initial good yellow-brown head, very fast gone; clear red-brown beer, with cola-like carbonation. Wood, bread, lactic acid, parsley, woodstainer, fruity aromas. Again very dry woody taste, tannines obvious, lactic acid, but in the taste, there’s definitely some sweetness underneath. Without the tartness from the wood, one could call it fruity, now it’s more like some wild fruit that is not quite considerable for consumption. Vinous, but not overly so. Retronasal some more fruity notes (fresh prunes), but also liquorice. Quite dry, but despite the acids and the dryness, even dry-out effect, there’s a certain slickness. Medium bodied. Another Rodenbach look-alike. Far from bad but there are some lackadaisicalities . yngwie (5000), Kristiansand, Norway

Cellar, dried fruits, mould, some port, a little oxidation and caramel and a touch of metal in the quite weak aroma. The flavor is sourly sweet, with dried fruit, a little cellar and a tiny oxidation. Quite short finish with some notes of alcohol. Medium to thin body with a little warming feeling. A delicious and gentle beer. Not very sour, not very sweet, not much of everything, but delicious. Rating: 7-3-7-3-15-3.5. (080509)
Bottle. The beer pours a reddish copper body with a quite lively carbonation and a small beige head leaving nice lacings. Dried fruits, some cherries, a little wood, caramel and cellar aromas escape the glass. Gives a rather sweet impression. Cellar, dried fruits, a little woody touch, sugary sweetness, a fruity sourness and some oxidation in the mouth. Silky, medium-bodied and slightly astringent mouthfeel. Slightly lemony and quite sweet finish with dried fruits and oxidation, but as for the rest of the beer, it’s gentle and certainly not pushing the limits. Easy to drink and with good refreshing qualities. (080826) gunnfryd (3603), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 23, 2007 Clear dark red color. Off white very quickly disappearing head. Very poor carbonation. Aroma of raisins and some caramel. Raisins in the flavor as well. only a bit of sourness. A lot less than what I would expect from a Oud Bruin. beastiefan2k (1605), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Pours with a large head that quickly fades into a surface covering lacing. The lacing is very sticky on the sides of the glass. Color is dark ruby brown with visible vigorous carbonation. Aroma is fruit juice made out of dark fruits and some wet socks (musk). Taste is dark grape skins and grape soda with some musk. Tingling carbonation as well. As is warms a light aceto character comes out, like very muddled balasamic vinegar. This oud bruin just misses the mark. 25cL bottle with no date from Beer Planet in a Cantillon tulip-like wine glass. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
