They basically bottled a yeast cake and sold it to me for $5. Talk about manufacturing errors. Smelled good, but I couldn’t try it like that. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime, if I feel like risking another $5.

It kind of reminds me of a vienna lager. Nice hop character. It really hides the alcohol really well. Not quite what I was expecting but it is still a very cool beer. I like it. danielyabu (285), União da Vitória, Brazil

Dark copper color, although translucent. Big beige head with some yellowish hues. The head is dense and looks creamy. Good head retention, some lacings.
Plenty of caramel malts and toffee in the nose. Dark bread, wet leaves, mild spices. Yeast.
Plenty of sweet malty flavors. Caramel, butterscotch, dark bread. Plenty of Kwak’s characteristic yeast flavor. Some grass and spicy hop flavors in the middle. The finish has a decent bitterness, some white pepper and hot and spicy alcohol. A rather round taste with some richness to it, but nothing special actually.
Medium body, gentle carbonation. Somewhat sticky.
This is a decent beer, a couple of notches above average. It lacks some character, but at the same time the taste feels heavy.

Aroma is caramel like and smooth malty too. It has a round aroma and some hints of fruit. Taste is also rounded with a good malty and caramely character. In the aftertaste there is a slight alcohol burn. charleskent (4), Germany does not count | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 9, 2009 bottle. hm, there are many better beers that do their "job" "on the dark side" ;) a bit alc taste, but normal for a stronger one. not a special taste, my opinion. sound67 (202), Offenbach, Germany
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 4, 2009 33cl dark brown bottle, as shown - at ’’Le Belge’’ in Offernbach. It was served with an original kwak glass, which looks more like a test-tube from the physics lab and comes with a wooden mount.
Pours a clear ruby red with a big, off-white head. No lacing. Heavy-bodied Beglian strong ale with thick, oily mouth feel.
Spicy and metallic aroma, a bit like brass - and some malt. Not so nice.
Taste is a complex mix of sweetish berries (cranberry), with some banana and molasses. Dry, bitter finish. Nice beer.
