Commercial Description:
Dark beer. It has a strong body, dry flavor, given by an excellent balance between sweet malts, roasted malts and hops. You can drink it after the dinner, with raw shellfish (in the Irish tradition), marinated fish; it's also excellent with sweets, fruit cakes and chocolate cakes.

Bottle.(Volo) Pours dark brown with large fine white top. Slightly sour, grainy nose, fruity rich back drop with light hint of lactose. Medium bodied, acidic coffee, dark roasted malt character in the middle, a bit flat at finish helped with good dose of clean alcohol.

Bar Volo. A dark beer with off-white head. A bit of chocolate malt, otherwise astringent sourish with some malting offset though not bitter. The roastedness added to the astringency and I suppose it cries for lasagna accompaniment. Relatively Good aroma though.

Fruit? and candied malt aroma, dark brown, red at the sides, pours a small long lasting cream head. Tastes of pit fruit, sour, sweet. Unique, really fine!

Dark brown, murky body, nice, not too tall, lasting beige head. Smoky and salty aroma. Interesting balance between roasted maltiness and tarty hoppiness. Not sure if the experiment worked. I was perplexed at first, then definitely pleased after the first sips. Worth a try, anyway. Medium body, slightly bitter and moderately yeasty finish.

Bottle (330ml). Shared with blankboy, tupalev, Dave B, and R++ - courtesty of R. Poured cloudy dark brown with a smallish beige-brown head. Nice roasty aroma, smokey, with an interesting salty/sour olive character and light very dry hops. Salty and tart fruit taste, the dry hops are more forefront, but this is big malt and decently roasty - mouthfeel is jangling tastes vying for attention, overall dry, astringent, average body - really interesting but I think needs balancing - or identity.

Bottle shared with Blankboy, Hogtown Harry, and company, thanks R!! Now this one is much better than the Red! Smoky malt aroma, very nice. Smoky malt taste, tons of roast and balanced well with the smoke. Very dry. No sign of the alcohol. Almost chalky. I love well done smoked beers and this fits the bill, wish I wrote some better notes during the tasting, but this will have to do; would love to try again.

Aroma di malto tostato. Al gusto si presenta estremamente bilanciata. Nonostante la gradazione l’alcol è quasi impercettibile.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev, R. & more -- courtesy of R. Pours brown with a small diminishing tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, fruit and yeast. Flavour was quite odd, it’s malty but I have to agree with ’fiulijn’ it’s unbalanced and I had a hard time picking it apart. Better then their Red beer but still not to my liking.
