(Bottl 50 cl) Hazy, amber golden with an off-white head. Aroma of yeast and alcohol. Medium-bodied with distinct notes of yeast and banana and LOADS of diacetyl. Somewhat astringent, leathery finish. Not bad as such just miles away from the Maibock it intends to be - both in flavour and appearance. This is more of a Weizenbock really. 180208

Bottle conditioned, poured a slightly hazy amber with a bubbly white head. A hoppy aroma, fruity and tangy with a touch of spice. A fully hoppy mouthfeel, smooth at first with a malt creaminess. Became more tangy towards the finish.

Re-tasted 31/12/2007. 500ml botle from TheGrandmaster. Improved condition but there is still a dominating powdery note and an unpleasant yeasty fruit character. Caramel notes dominate the malt character, rather than supporting it. Upped from 1.3 to 1.7. Tasted 19/08/2007. 500ml bottle from "Lounge", Carterton. Gusher. Lost 1/4 of the bottle. Deep bronze. Diacetyl and powdery astringency points to pediococcus. Seemed like an interesting recipe in behind the problems but I couldn’t get a real feel for anything else this time.
