Commercial Description:
A robust amber ale brewed with locally roasted, organic fair trade espresso. The espresso is a dark Sumatran blend, which adds a toasty character in the front palate. This plays nicely off the sweet malty flavors found on the back palate of this amber ale. * Espresso is Maine roasted in collaboration with local hand-crafted roaster Coffee by Design in Portland. * In partnership with Transfair, a non-profit that works towards giving farmers and farm workers a livable wage and supporting efforts to sustain environmental stewardship in the communities. * This is the first Fair Trade Certified™ beer brewed in the United States. http://www.peakbrewing.com/

A pleasant surprise. They were giving out free samples at West lakeview a while back and I tried a little bit and ended up buying some. Pour is mildly cloudy light brown with off-white head. Aroma is malt, coffee, nutmeg, and dark chocolate. Flavor is true to nose but espresso flavor dominates the finich in a good way...subtle yet lasting. An interesting twist on coffee beer, I really like it.

Bottle pours a clear amber color with a dense off-white head. The aroma is pure espresso. Unfortunately the coffee aroma doesn’t carry over to the flavor as much as I hoped. The sweet malty flavor includes some roasted coffee aspects, but it is fairly subdued compared to the overwhelming aroma. Decent organic beer nonetheless.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-copper color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head. The aroma was a rather nice mix of strong coffee, roasty malts and vanilla. The flavor was dry, malty and lightly roasty and bitter with noticable coffee and light toasty nut underneath. The finish was long with roasted coffee. Very good.

Dark amber, creamy tan head. Citric coffee aromas ride soft swirls of chocolate cherry-cola nut. Light black coffee and citrus flavor ride a hint of sweet cherry malt throughout. Rounds out well with a light hop bitterness. Medium bodied and smooth, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. Expectation here was low, but I was truly shocked by how much I liked this beer. Unique and very well done...

12 oz brown bottle with a twist off cap. Off or somewhat coffee aroma with a ropey olfactory. Looks like ice tea. Very strong black coffee initial bitter impact. I looked back at the label thinking the flavor was like many coffee stouts I’ve had; imperial and other. Taste overwhelms most indications of carbonation, rather oily. Next slug is big bad coffee again. Session builds to a medium strong bitter lingering old coffee finish that sticks to the back of your mouth. Wew, now I am awake!!

What and interesting beer. I mean its and amber and yet had that stouty espresso rich taste but light enough to want to keep drinking. Aroma and taste was definitely coffee. Pretty good.
