| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small thick light tan head that leaves awesome lacing on the glass. Aroma is very sweet - maple syrup, light fruits and jam - with an oat malt base. Flavor is a bit odd at first with lots of sweet maple sugar. Later oats, toast/roasted malt, sour apple, and buttery toast come out. Weakish palate. This beer really does grow on you. After my first pint I was unsure of what I thought, but after trying it some more I really started to like it. Quite drinkable and pretty tasty too. A unique beer, and of course, it’s organic! thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a beige head that starts off big then fall to a much smaller height but lingers and laces well. The nose is heavy on the maple syrup and molasses. Very appealing with background hints of oats and even a very subtle hop prescence. Tastes exactly like you would think. Sweet and full of maple flavor that comes out in the nose. The mouthfeel is better than expected. Not too syrupy and not too thin. It does finish a little dry but not enough to ruin the beer. If the name of this beer appeals to you, buy it. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Draft at Sheffield’s. Pours a nice amber with offwhite head. Nose is pleasant, like a serial mash with light maple notes. Taste is much the same, like eating a bowl of oatmeal with a kiss of brown sugar. Very nice grainy notes come through. Stays robust. I actually thought this was pretty good and exactly what I would expect from an oat ale. Nice. nramsburg (203), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Pours to a medium amber with a decent sized head. I want to like this one right off the bat -- good aroma with some caramel, pine, and what might be a bit of maple in there but beer was too warm to really get a full picture. Regardless, good aroma.
Smooth flavor with a good deal of resin present. Definitely more than I’m used to. A bit of Maple starts to come through on the finish.
For a reasonably 6 pack, this is a pretty good beer, but I can’t say I’d want to go for more than like 2 or 3 of these in one sitting.
I think it’s been written off a bit much by some of the other reviewers, and I say this as someone who has been underwhelmed with other Peak Products. This shows progress.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 15, 2009 An amber ale with a thin off white head. A very nice aroma of dark maple syrup, woody notes, and fusel alcohol. In mouth, a sweet malty ale with an oily mouth feel, lots of British hops, and a nutty final. Medium bodied. jimhilt (1688), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2008 Pours a three finger cream head that fades to a thin layer leaving some lace. Nice clear amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Slight hoppy nose. Flavor is balanced with some malty sweetness but couldn’t taste any maple. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Capitol Convenience Concord, NH. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Very dry grain and dusty taste. The sweet maple just barely squeeks out an appearance on the finish. Skyview (4064), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2008 From a 12-oz bottle and served during the ABR ’08 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a clear copper amber brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of caramel and biscuity malt, a touch of honey and very little maple syrup. Taste is a little gritty, medium bodied with flavors of dry caramel malt, some light fruit and a touch of maple syrup. Finish is semi-dry with a toasted caramel malt aftertaste. The maple is very light compared to most others I’ve tried but still and average specialty grain beer.
