Even though they gave me a free pint glass, I can still remain objective. Nut flavor is there, bitterness is there, and malts were thin. I can feel good about drinking an organic beer, and this one had flavor as well. Oakes (8093), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Amber-brown color. Thin, whispy head. Nutty, diacetyl aroma. The flavour is crisp and earthy with caramel, nuts and diacetyl. Fairly toasty, with a dry finish. Beershine (2710), Where Climate Suits My Clothes, Vietnam
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 20, 2008 Draught. Red-copper color, some lacing. Diacetyl-rich aroma also laden with sweet crystal malt. Prickly but decent mouthfeel. Sessionable. Needs to be chewed to release the hops. It grew on me. thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 18, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a brown/amber color almost like maple syrup with a white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is slightly malty and sweet with a minor hint of nut. Flavor is roasty and with some hop bitterness at the end. I get a lingering aftertaste that I can’t quite pin point. It finishes a little dry too. Not a bad beer by any means. It’s a good step forward for organic beers. BiddleBrau (329), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2008 Nice brown color with little head. Very faint malt aroma. Flavor slightly grainy with medium level of hop bitterness. Thin body. I prefer my brown to have more malty profile. An ok session beer but nothing outstanding. I rather enjoyed drinking it. It’s good to see that organic beer is just as good as any other.
The chestnut color is dead on for the style. Brilliant clarity. Nice parchment head, long-lasting lace of foam in the glass.
Aroma dominated by floral hops. Slight but complex malt aromas, with some roasted characteristics.
Flavor quite well balanced, with solid malt ably countered by a firm hops bitterness, finished by slight chocolate roastiness and nuttiness, combined with herbal, floral hops. Finished slightly dry.
Moderate carbonation does not mask hops. Full mouthfeel is pleasant, but does not overwhelm.
Very "moreish". It’s easy to finish one and pour another, and you’d appreciate doing so. If anything, it’s overhopped to be a NUT brown ale in the English tradition, but not so much that it slaps you in the face.
I liked this beer very much! It isn’t the most complex nut brown ale out there, but a solidly-executed example of the style. Recommended. Davinci (296), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 23, 2008 Deep copperish pour, thin to medfium grayish head. Pretty unassuming nose. Slightly estery, slightly tart, grainy, toasty aromas. Flavor is roasty, mildly tart, with some penut shell on the finish with maybe a hint of coffee.
