Tastes very hoppy indeed, earthy, sour, bitter but nothing that really speaks to me and yells "pine you clod!" Thin body, ok carbonation. Drinkable, but high-gravity so not really a sessionable beer. Pine? jcwattsrugger (5572), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Cloudy light golden. Threre’s no getting around it so I’ll just say it. This beer smells like ass. Big piney flavour though (big relief) and fruity but more like grape juice. Kind of an odd beer all around.GCBF. CapFlu (3483), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Thin white head with a yellow body. Nose of pure skunk. Flavour of a rotting peach mixed with tea-bagged hops. So very awful! Oakes (8115), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 11, 2007 GCBF so likely the same batch Enniskillen had a few days prior to the fest. And yeah, it was rough. Hazy golden-amber colour. Aroma of bunghole. More than just a little fecal. I still tasted it, though...big spruce, lots of graininess and a rough alcohol finish. I’m going to presume it doesn’t always smell like that. donpasquale (5), British Columbia, Canada does not count | 0.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Sep 11, 2007 I tasted this beer at the 2007 Great Canadian Beer Festival, in Victoria, BC. I have been frequenting the GCBF for several years and I can say that I have never demanded a refund for a beer that I have tasted until I tasted Peak’s Spruce Juice. I was knocked off my feet by the “aroma,” which I can only describe as my hockey bag filled with sweaty hockey gear that has been fermenting in my truck canopy since the season ended this past spring. I don’t know how the brewmaster got the idea that this beer was drinkable, let alone worth the two tokens they charged for it. I could come up with a more palatable brew if I ran a 10K and squeezed the sweat out of my running gear for fermentation. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

Taste is an interesting hoppiness, citrus, light caramel, spruce is somewhat showing. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 26, 2006 tap at the brewpub - Hopefully calling it the somewhat catch all of "strong ale" is close enough. I wasn’t sure what to call this rather unusual brew. It pours cloudy and pale colored with no head and a light, malty aroma. The flavor is quite sweet with a little alcohol noticeable. There’s not a lot going on with this beer as far as I can tell. Spruce? It’s mild spruce, that’s for sure. I couldn’t quite place the other flavors. It’s different. All this said, it’s a very small brewery (web site says a 2 barrel system), they’re being creative, and they also sell some other high quality beers. So drop by if you’re in the area. Try the house beer. Then have some of their other fine brews.
