| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Bottle. Wet oats and barley aroma along with some licorice. Black body with tan head. Flavor is thin for a stout if you know what I’m talking about. When I brought up beer seen it was organic and oould see why it was thin boied and some what bland. Sweet malted barley, oatmeal and some coco. But a dry metalic sweetness is on palate which isn’t that good. BBB63 (4238), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Oct 25, 2009 Bottle and served in my NB Worthy glassware; Basically near opaque with a lasting frothy beige head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of plum and liquorice, tobacco, oats, roasted malts, lactic milk chocolate and coffee, and a hint of old hops. The taste is just wrong! Sure there is some chocolate and toasty malt, oatmeal, walnut and ripened fruits... but there is also a medicinal band-aid quality that just sucks ass. Freeze dried coffee taste upon the finish did not help matters any. Add a horribly thin body and you got a piss poor example of the genre. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 30, 2009 I didn’t realize this was organic until I logged in to enter the rating. Black, with some sludge. Aroma has roasted malt and grain. A lot of malt in the flavor as well, with grain, and some coffee and chocolate. Heavy palate, and very smooth. Probably the best organic beer I have had. nuplastikk (1206), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2009 12oz shorty bottle. Opaque black with a beige-brown head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Medium bodied, somewhat thin and watery but still full of flavor. The oats add some depth to the otherwise mildly bitter chocolate flavor. There is a slight acidity, but it works itself into balance well. Slight traces burnt malt or vegetable in the aftertaste. Definitely not your middle of the road stout, resides in the bitter and earthy portion of Stoutville. Worth a try for sure. JCB (1781), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 24, 2009 12oz bottle from my Secret Santa. Thinnish brown body with a fairly acrid aroma. Mouthfeel is a bit watery, and the taste is pretty horrid. Sour, infected, only a hint of generic grain. Drainpour. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jun 28, 2009 The beer is now called "That’s What I’m Talking About". Picked this up the other day at Star Liquor. Pitch black colour. Pours out like thick lifeless goo. Interesting pour because as calm as it goes in, the head roars up like a volcanoe. Instant oatmeal notes with noticeable smoke and dirt floor on the nose. Taste is super rich, almost a little too much. I think i found the taste a little unbalanced. Either that or this was the wrong beer to choose for a 95 degree day. Probably the latter. Anyway super powerful in roasted malts. Flavours of burnt toast and coffee grounds. awautlet (45), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | May 5, 2009 Opaque dark brown in color with a dark tan head. Nose of roasted malt, but also a hint of sweetness. Mouth feel is fuller in style. Almost like a dirty stout, smoke on the finish. Almost earthy in flavor. Sight sweetness on the mid palate, but finish is roasted malt.
