Sweet chocolate aroma with some weird woody and chalky notes. Lots of chalk and cocoa powder. Way too much chalk in the aroma. Mildly transparent dark mahogany body with a creamy light tan head. Roasted cocoa powder to start that is lightly sweet, followed by an astringent sourness and chalkiness. Has a coffee and milky finish. Brutally flavored and the mouthfeel is just wrong.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 18, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Chocolate and some roast in aroma and taste. Dark brown. Very lacey and above average mouthfeel, covering up a sourish acidic mouthfeel. The chocolate feels added in droves from an American milk chocolate mix. On the sweeter side, and would like more roast. pete4999 (169), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 20, 2009 Draft at Pearl Street. Pretty simple stout, low ABV. Smelled of dark chocolate, and tasted very sweet. It was a little too sweet for me, I certainly wouldn’t have been able to drink it all night, but it was decent on average. I would have another one if I was at Pearl Street. swoopjones (1932), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Jul 20, 2009 On tap at Pearl Street. Pours a deep black, watery body with little head. Very carbonated. almost fizzy. Decent chocolate aroma. Taste has decent chocolate flavor immediately. Then has a strange fizzy awkwardness. Seems like blueberry/ raspberry. No body here at all. Like cola with herseys syrup mixed in. Had a couple decent beers during this visit, This was not one of them. Undrinkable blipp (1772), Newark, New Jersey, USA

Chocolatey mocha aroma with a hint of roast. The body is a bit on the thin side. The flavor has creamy chocolate, cocoa, mocha and burnt malts. Pretty good, one of the better beers I’ve had at Pearl Street.
