| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2009 750ml, mail-ordered from the brewpub. Soft biscuity malts in the nose, along with hints of yeast, earthiness, and fruit. Light brown/dark orange pour, cloudy and topped by a huge foamy head. My initial thought was that the taste was a bit too bready and would have been better enjoyed fresh. But the further I got into the beer, the more I was digging it, since the beer actually manages to achieve a dryness (not to say papery quality) even so, and the result is a very balanced and complex brew. fonefan (11818), VestJylland, Denmark

He’d saved this for several years until we next met. It’s was his "favorite", a vintage (2008) . I suspect it did not age well. Small head. Citrus seemed to dominate. Finish was maple and mildly peppered. I’ve enjoyed several other Bière de Gardes, but I’m ambivilent. anders37 (4760), Malmö, Sweden

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2009 750 ml corked and caged bottle ordered over the web directly from the brewery. 2008 Vintage. Opens with a loud pop. Pour is hazed orange, copper and beige. Fine carbonation bubbles steadily rise up to a billowing 4 inch whitish-tan head. Head is quite lasting. Decent lacing. Aroma earthy peaty caramel maltiness. Some floral vanilla in there too, very soft and pleasant nose. Taste is the caramel maltiness of the nose initially, then some nice grassy hay floral graininess. Finish has some slight citrus bitterness and yeasty spiciness. Palate is medium, nice big body though still manages to be crisp and drinkable. This was a nice beer.
