Commercial Description:
The country ales of France inspire our Fall seasonal beer, Bridal Ale. Bridal Ale was originally brewed in celebration of the wedding of two Pelican staff members, brewer Travis Zeilstra and server Jen Pelletier. This year's edition of Bridal Ale features a deep copper color and a rich, toasted malt character. Subtle floral hints and fruity notes punctuate the aroma, while a slightly sweet malt flavor and warming effect characterize the finish.

Bottled - tasted blind. A hazy amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with dusty notes of hops, over ripe fruit, and lots of alcohol, leading to a dry bitter finish.

2005 bottle. Cloudy dark amber. Heavy caramel, with rich earth to it. Light caramel and earth character, but the body is big and it’s surprisingly boozy. At times this could pass for a barley wine, yet does not have any forcefulness of character.

Hazy amber with tiny off white head. Sweet vinious aroma with overripe fruits, caramel, plums and toasted malt. Sweet fruity aroma with toasted malt, caramel and alcohol notes. Somewhat watery for a beer of this style. Ends sweet with warming alcohol.

(750ml bottle, bottled 10/05) Small beige head atop murky copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some grapefruit, toffee, raisin -- evokes a barleywine. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, cookie, some floral/orange, light brown sugar. Medium body with light stickiness. Not bad, but not sure how this is considered a BdG. The aroma evokes a barleywine, and the taste certainly doesn’t come across as a BdG either.
