Lots of cascadking visible carbonation and excellent lace. Head is lasting. Tastes like it smells. An unassuming brown ale. Somewhat under-bodied. A nice very moderate hop finish though. Still not what it could be. Perhaps I am getting spoiled by all of the bigger, fuller bodied beers I have been focusing on. This is good, just not great. I suppose what makes this a Brown Ale is that there is some moderate hop action going on, particularly in the lingering aftertaste. Love the chocolate malt taste - it’s definitely a keeper. Pretty, fluffy beige head and thickness make this brown ale a true winner. These guys did not skimp on the grain bill. Bravo! Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2005 This might be the best brown ale I have ever tried. Citric hops on the nose. Nut brown pour with a nice fluffy head. The hops come through in the flavor, along with the caramel sweet malt. Slight chocolate and faint roastiness. A nice beer in a non-favorite style, tough to finish the entire bomber. hopdog (5630), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Aromas and tastes of nuts, roasted malts, caramel and hops. Nice hoppy balance. Citrus. Body a little on the watery side. Lots of lacing left on the glass. Overall, a very god Brown Ale. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2004 Pleasing aroma with notes of caramel, and roasted nuts. Pours very attractive medium amber with a well retained tan colored head and lots of lacing. Flavor is quite enjoyable with a rather refined interplay between a nice chocolate sweetness and a bit of spicy, hoppy bitterness. A style winner from a very nice brewery.
