Commercial Description:
Grand Cru de Pelican is the result of inspiration, creativity, and imagination. With a nod to the great brewing traditions of Belgium, we have been inspired to create this dark, sensous brew. Grand Cru de Pelican entices with a rich, complex aroma, and satisfies with deep malty and caramel flavors. Spicy, aromatic flavors provide a harmonious counterpoint to the malty foundation of this robust beer. A snappy finish and medium-light body enhance the smooth drinkability of this beer.

A 2007 vintage 750 ml bottle, purchased this beauty from Pelican Pub mail order and shared at Dark Lord Day ’09. Pours a semi-hazy dark brown colored brew with a nice tan head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma is complex with roasted caramel malt, chocolate, raisins, orange zest and dark pitted fruits. Taste is full bodied, a tad syrupy with flavors of caramel malt, flowery hops, some dried figs, apricot, raisins and dark pitted fruits. Finish is semi-sweet, fruity with some alcohol warmth presence. The two years of aging has done some wonders to this Quad.

DLD! I guess it was from Bob! Thanks Bob!! MMM MMM GOOD! A rich dark chocolatey brown pour with a tan head. I get prunes, molasses, raisins, booze and caramel wtih some woody notes mixed in. Flavor is fruity, yeast, wood, malt, dried figs. Damn its good. I would like to drink a bottle fo this. Pelican is a great brewery.

Many thanks to Bob for bringing this to DLD! Poured thick, deep brown with a fine cap of tan head. The aroma picked up rich, dark plums and other fruits on a warm, inviting initial impression.. touches of oak and peppery yeast joined and were perfectly balanced. The flavor found semi-sweet dark fruits and a pinch of oak with heavier vinous character coming through on the back.. again, balance was spot-on! Heavier-bodied and warm on the palate with ideal flow to it.. I would LOVE to try this again!
