scrizzz (1263), kirkland, Washington, USA Nov 16, 2009 Light caramel hue, clean body, strong dense white head, great lacing, beautiful in the stein. Tropical hop aroma, mango and orange. Wow! Really? Wow. Spicy and citrusy indeed. Black pepper, lemon/lime, zesty with a crunchy earthy finish. juiceisloose (661), Windermere, Florida, USA Nov 10, 2009 Bomber courtesy seabass. Pours a bright golden orange color topped by a thin, off white head that leaves spots of lace behind on the glass. The aroma leans to the juicy citrus hop side with orange and grapefruit showing strong atop the toasted toffee malt backbone. The flavors follow suit with grapefruit and orange bitterness up front and then balanced nicely by the sweet toffee malts. The hops leave a pleasing bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied and smooth and pretty easy to drink with a lingering bitter citrus finish. Really nice ipa that I wish we could get. GAManiac (1141), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 7, 2009 Pours a clear amber with some bubbles streaming up from the bottom and feeding a thick creamy beige head that leaves excellent lacing and lingers as a cap for the duration.
There’s no mistaking the big citrus aroma from the Cascade hops - pineapple and grapefruit come to mind. There is a sweet and lightly toasted beady malt aroma in the background.
The taste is more of the Cascade goodness with a big wallop of hop bitterness right up front. The bitterness is barely balanced by the malty backbone before the huge biting pine and grapefruit hop presence leaves a tingling bitterness on the tongue after each sip.
The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with strong carbonation, but the flavors are so big that the lighter mouthfeel doesn’t take away from the beer. In fact, it makes the drinkability much higher than a fuller bodied beer with the same bitterness profile. A top-notch West Coast IPA. daknole (2879), Plantation, Florida, USA Oct 29, 2009 Orangish color, light head. Christmas tree hops! Flavor is citrus and pine trees. Light caramel notes too. Good IPA. Pelican is a solid brewery. sebletitje (1889), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2009 October ’09 O-Town Throwdown, courtesy of BA trade.
Pours orange, beige head.
Aroma and flavor, hoppy, citrus, malts, good mouthfeel of pine and spices with hints of lingering caramel with faint bitter finish. Sweet sugary / caramel. Taverner (835), San Ramon, California, USA Oct 19, 2009 Fresh this stuff is amazing. Aroma is grassy hops. Pours copper with white head. Very nice chalky hop notes in this. Lots of pine resin notes. dchmela (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 19, 2009 Tasted at Otown Throwdown courtesy Seabass. Light copper pour. Huge hop aroma, woody, pine resin. Taste is toffee, hops and hops. Good. SoLan (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 18, 2009 Courtesy seabass. Copper. White carbonation. Soapy and bittersweet. Astringent. Dry finish. Remember this being better, will have to retry.
