raphael (410), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 9, 2007 (from bomber but you MUST go to the brewpub on the beach) golden amber, negligible head but look out nose—hop assault, billowing, mostly citrus but a little pine and almost orange. does not go lightly through the mouth but as clean as so much hope resinance can go. the taste is hihg bitterness maybe balanced by some pine, oak and caramel, intense and beautiful (tho finish a shade heavy)—relentless hoppiness--please let me go! i’m a little masochistic but having two of these in a row would be too much. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Sep 4, 2007 Draft. Amber beer with a nice whitish head. Good grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and light pine flavor with backing malts (caramel with a bit of roast and chocolate). Grapefruit and complex malts linger. Medium body. Decent bitterness. Nice beer. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Sep 4, 2007 Orange with off-white head. Nice citrus grapefruit citrus hops on the nose. Exceptionally hoppy body. Thanks to Skyview for sharing. kmweaver (2389), Sebastopol, California, USA Sep 2, 2007 22oz bottle, courtesy of Yonkers65. Thanks, Bruce! Pours a clear, medium golden-yellow color; white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Dense, resiny citrus hops and passion fruit in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: sharp, resiny citrus and orange hop presence dominates here; excellent hop oiliness and chewiness without much astringency (though there’s still a bit of a rough, zippy hop character); light candy sugar maltiness hiding in the background; slightly floral presence opens up with a bit of time in the glass. Lengthy, citrus hop and candy sugar malt finish; fruit and resin-filled ending. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 06/01/2006

I would like to rerate this beer.
jmcguire1969 (149), Lafayette, Colorado, USA Aug 31, 2007 Bomber straight from the Oregon Coast...thanks Marc! The aroma on this one is very malty and would prefer having a bit more citrus. The head on this is lovely and lacy. The taste is where thing begin to pick up. Malt, pine and grapefruit come though and a stiff bitterness follows. This is a well balanced beer that is big for an IPA. JK (2943), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Aug 31, 2007 Fairly heavy palate. Very full flavored and well balanced with sweet malt and loads of hops. Dark orange color. Citrus, especially grapefruit in the finish. Skyview (3931), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Aug 30, 2007 From a 22-oz bomber, via traded with kenb pours a hazy orange amber brew with a good sized off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of spruce/pine, grapefruit zest, some caramel malt and a touch of toffee. Taste is over the top piney/grapefruit. Character has medium body, very light carbonation with flavors of strong northwoods pine, grapefruit, and a touch of tart fruit. Finish is very hoppy and tart bitterness. The grapefruit aftertaste lingers around for a while. This brew will keep the west coast hop-heads happy!
