mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Aug 29, 2007 Pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Smells of big, thick hops, with a substantial malt character to it as well. Mild citrus and grapefruit esters were evident too. The taste is very profound. Strong, yet smooth on the palate. Only mildly bitter, as the hops and malts seem to balance each other out almost perfectly. Nice spice, some subtle cinnaon characters give it some support in the flavor category. Just an overall very good IPA. Cant find much too complain about. mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Aug 29, 2007 Poured a ruby orange color with an impressive three fingers of long lasting head. The nose was of pine resin and grapefruit zest with sticky malts bringing up the rear. The taste is equally pleasing, Its malt profile is robust enough that the anslaut of various hop tastes have a platform on which to stand. There are tart bitters, sweet bitters, citrusy bitters and nearly acrid bitters. For me the feel was nice and full, others argue that it’s closer to moderate. It may take a true hop-head to understand this one. Its all over the taste spectrum but leaves a tart and sour flavor that requires you to drink more. Just be careful what you fallow it with, you’ll likely not be able to taste it. Bravo. badgerben (3584), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Aug 28, 2007 Shared at Joebrew’s BBQ, but don’t know who brought it. Light copper color with a medium head. Nice orange and grapefruit aroma. Powerfully strong citrus taste with orange be the dominant one. Not much balance with the malt, but it isn’t so over the top that it’s pure hop juice. Very nice! mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA Aug 25, 2007 I’m sorry, but I just can’t bring myself to over rate these bombs that are just overhopped for the sake of overhopping. There’s no balance here. I know that the style calls for massive amounts of hoppy notes and strong bitterness in the flavor - but there MUST be some balance to this. Nice golden/orange color on pour. Some soapy aromas on back of nice piney notes. Thanks to Dirk for getting me six of these bombers. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 15, 2007 Draft at The Bistro’s IPA Fest; Nose of lemony hops and a touch of vanilla; cloudy orange-gold with a big yellow head; flavor of hop bitterness and pine. eaglefan538 (2351), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Aug 8, 2007 Bottle generously shared by Slob. Appearance was hazy golden to amber in color, white head, good retention, nicely recreated with a swirl. The aroma was strong amber ale-like, citrus, pine, and caramel. The flavor followed the aroma, pine hops first, citrus second, caramel underneath, along with a presumably hop-originated spicey character. The mouthfeel was very full, a big beer in heartiness and hoppiness. Thanks, Bert, for the wonderful opportunity on this one. sloth (1657), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Aug 8, 2007 Small tan head, retention is good with minimal lacing. Hazy gold, light copper colored ale. Big hoppy nose, fruity, flowery, big citrus elements, grapefruity with notes of tar, pine and some toasty malts showing through. Body is full, lightly resiny and oily, good carbonation thats lightly prickly. Piney , citrusy, hop flavors up front backed by mildly sweet malts, a hint toasty, a hint of melons. just super tasty big hop flavors. Dry, hoppy, spicey finish. WOW, what a bite! An IPA? Borderline DIPA me thinks. Props to SDbruboy for this most enjoyable brew. Thanks again Cliff! joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA Aug 3, 2007 22oz Bomber

India Pelican Ale pours a slightly dirty golden with very minor orange highlights. Clear with a big 2+ finger dense eggshell white head. Minimal small carbonation bubbles rise to that thick cap of head. Leaves sticky, sheety, chunky lacing after each sip.
Cascade hops hit the nose first and don’t ever leave which is fine by me. Piney with a good amount of bitter grapefruit. A caramel maltiness lurks underneath the hoppy goodness and the nose finishes with a spicy character I’m having a tough time putting my finger on.
Good flavor on this one. Things start off with a caramel creaminess but the hops quickly take over. Smooth grapefruit and orange hoppiness slide over the tongue mid palate and stay flavorful and sweet. On the swallow the grapefruit rind bitterness takes over and lingers. Very nice.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Cabonation gets prickly around the edges of the tongue and that with the solid bitterness give the tongue a good thrashing. Dry finish.
Very drinkable enjoyable IPA. One I could easily sit around and sip away the night.
A quality IPA from Pelican Brewery. Solid West Coast style IPA. I wish Pelican products were available around here, I’d like to try some others.
