jcr (1134), Jasper, Indiana, USA Nov 24, 2006 Large, white head atop a clear amber body. Pleasant, if not somewhat subdued, nose of pine, resin, grapefruit and flowers. The flavor only hints at malt sweetness, and is dominated by bitterness. The taste is full of floral hops, soap, grapefruit. Medium body with a sticky texture. Fizzy carbonation. Long finish that is moderately acidic. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Nov 17, 2006 22 oz. bottle via trade with 11026 - Pours a clear amber color with an average off white head. Light carbonation. Light spotty lacing. Has a citrus and pine aroma. Flavor is citrus, caramel malt, and light esters. Has a slight astringent aftertaste. Medium body. A very good beer. Thanks Steve. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 16, 2006 Translucent and dulled polished brass in color with a wispy, icy, oily splotched head on top. Cascades hit home with oily blanched grapefruit, strawberry shortcake and lime juice dripping into it. Cheesy tropical fruit is accentuated by danishes, drumming in the distance with pillowy lilac accents and forming an adequate bridge to the flavor component of the show. Balanced toasted grain keels with lemon buttered bread loafs. Decreased carbonation is comforted by the cascades, providing a baked, toasted maize base. Soapy lemons meet with the fabric softening cotton lightness. Medium-bodied and a textbook example of an IPA, winding down with waxy, buttered sourdough and a touch of papaya enzyme, empathetically comforting on its way out. Thanks for sharing, Blake! JPDIPSO (4862), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Nov 12, 2006 Light amber color with a small but stable and soft off-white head. Pale malts smeared with citric marmalade. LIght sweet floral aromas in the backdrop. Fairly heavy in feel. Somewhat grainy sweetness with loads of mildly citric hops. Gets quite bitter and sharp the deeper one gets with this one. Finish is near burning of green hops with a sharp bitterness. A touch more balance throughout would be welcome for me. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Nov 12, 2006 Bottle. The beer pours to a glowing caramel/light orange body with a creamy off-white head. The aroma is sweet with tons of bitter grapefruit hops. Flaked malts/grains. Some oranges. The flavor is grassy with some light citrus oils. Pretty malty. Bitter creamy palate. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 11, 2006 Clear amber; frothy lasting off-white head. I didn’t take a lot of notes, but it a pretty run of the mill IPA, but still tastey. The hops are very citrusy / cascadey, and the flavor had a good sweetness that was like sweet fruit (strawberries). Good stuff. Very drinkable and tastey. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Nov 9, 2006 GABF-on tap-pours a white head with gold color. Taste is light citrus bitter, any malt?, oh there’s some, bitter hop finish. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 3, 2006 On tap at Pelican Pub and Brewery, Pacific City, OR. Deep gold with thin white head. Lots of hop on aroma. Quite perfumed. Quite harsh hop. Harsh Cascade hop aroma. Bit of grapefruit. Moderate malts to give it some backbone and then strong hop finish that verges on the sharp. Very drying on the palate.
