22ouncer courtesy of KenB. Yum. My favorite IPA that Ive tasted is Racer 5, and this stuff is equally good. Nose is familiar-floral hops, a little fruit, sweet malt. intense hop flavor that balances well with cirtus accents and a light yet present malt backbone. in other words, great balance. My new favorite session ipa. But I cant get it in NC, or Racer 5. :(

Tap at Uber 9/30/06.

I’ve wanted to try this beer for over a year, and I’m not disappointed! This is really good stuff. It pours a beautiful clear copper with a lovely and long lived whipped-butter color head. The aroma is spectacular (at risk of a synesthesial metaphor): powerful with marvellous nectarine and floral hop aromas that somehow avoid all of the astringent aspects of other strongly hopped aromas while at the same offering an incredibly rich strong nose. The flavor is also good but it can’t quite keep up with the aroma; it begins with some herbal tones and sweet fruit juices; through the middle we get mildly sweet malts strong enoug to balance the whole thing out, along with the expected citric hop flavors.

This one lived up to my very high expectations, and I look forward to my next chance to try it.

Bottle 7/9/07. As before, astonishing aroma - rich sweet pineapple juice and nectarine, incredibly full, very close to a 10. Flavor is good, relatively dry given the sweet aroma, but short on the malt backbone. Original numbers stand.

22 OZ Bottle from the Pelican Brewery at the beach. Pours a clear copper color with a large head that leaves a lof of lace as it slowly dissipates.Nice hoppy aroma with notes of orange, grapefruit, lemon, butterscotch, and subtle caramel malt backbone. Medium bodied and carbonated just right. Starts out with a sweet caramel/molasses flavor, then turns to a strong orange and finishes with a hoppy bitter grapefruit mouth-puckering bitter. Just very nice and makes me smile. The cascade hops are barely kept in check here! Actually, no they aren’t, lol..does have the bitter grapefruit rind finish..

SOLID IPA. This has a great fruity ester that compliments the floral and fruity notes of the hops very well. Balanced without a lingering bitterness there is a decidely sweet malt backbone that supports the hops perfectly.

On draft at Henrys Tavern in Portland. Arrived at the table a clear medium amber with a smal off-white head that diminishes slowly nad leaves amople lace. Good IPA aroma, with toasty malt, clove and oher floral notes along with plentiful piney and grapefruit hops. Flavor is wow, hop city! Initital sweet, fruity malts featuring orange juice and some caramel, is quickly totally overrun by the unabashed hop character, bitter and acidic with pine, grapefruit rind, lime juice and pepper in the finsh. Puckering and powerful. Medium body, and crispy, prickly carbonation. Mmmmmm, hoppy!

The pour reveals a slightly cloudy orange color with a thin white head. Very good aroma of citrusy and piney hops, there’s a definite orange smell to it. The flavor is very good with a focus on hops, citrusy and piney, it finishes with some bitterness. The body has a light to medium thickness with an oily texture and moderate carbonation. A very well done and enjoyable IPA.
