SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Jun 22, 2006 Fairly clear medium golden colored body that holds an average sized white head.
Fresh grapefruit and pine aroma come easily.
Plenty of body delivers a well balanced, brew that ends with a long bitter finish.
Very nice IPA. You need to drink one of these just to remind yourself that Cascades hops are still doing the job as well as any of the newer hop varieties and will be around for a while with good reason. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jun 16, 2006 Pours clear garnet in color with a few tiny floaters and a small but firm honey colored head. Sweet bread dough aroma with yeast and floral, resinous hops. Thick on the tongue with a lingering bitter finish. Nice spectrum of hop flavors starting dank, almost marijuana like, opening into floweryness and finishing herbal. Has a weird, almost moldy, underlying flavor. drismyhero (815), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jun 13, 2006 Numbered caps indicate small batches of this stuff. Sharp grapefruit aroma and flavor with a clean finish. These hops really are very clean, remind me a bit of the LaConner IPA. There is a quick glimpse of sweetness on the back of the toungue, but it is quickly washed away by waves of hoppiness. A true hop head’s delight! jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Jun 10, 2006 From a 22 oz. brown bomber bottle with a blurb on the back, no bottled/freshness date.
Made a very good appearance, poured a cloudy reddish copper orange with a fluffy white head that settled into a thin lacing, minimal amount of sticking, good carbonation.
Had a tasty nose of caramel malts and citric zesty, spicy and floral hops.
A crisp, nicely hop textured and smooth medium bodied mouth feel, easy AIPA drinkability.
Delicious tasting, citric zesty and spicy, a pronounced, but rolling hop bitterness on the tongue, not a coarse taste killer, but slightly numbing, a struggling caramel maltiness that stays just below the hops, and a dry hop resinous and caramel malty finish with a citric leafiness lingering in the palate.
One of the best AIPA I’ve had the pleasure to sample, easy to see why this is a award winner, if you’re a fan of IPA’s, then this is a must try.
goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Jun 5, 2006 Poured a hazy amber color with a small white head. Big hop foward aroma. Citrusy and fruity with malt underneath. Malty and acidic citrus flavor. Pith/rind notes. Moderately bitter finish. Caramel underneath. Medium bodied. paulmetzger (152), Pocatello, Idaho, USA Jun 4, 2006 Mountain Brewers Beer Fest 2006. Lack of appearance judging reflects opaque plastic sampling cup.
My FAVORITE of BeerFest 06. Big Intensely Hoppy IPA,
Light toasted/molassis malt and a hop hit of floral and citrus. Long lingering harsh bitter. Loved it. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Jun 4, 2006 Pours a clear copper/amber. Cascade hoppiness in the aroma and it is a touch grassy. Fairly dry body. Leafy, slightly astrinent hops. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA May 30, 2006 On tap at Henry’s 12th Street Tavern. Clear amber appearance. Aroma is all hops with notes of citrus and pine. Simple and delicious citrus and piney hop flavors throughout. The hop flavors are strong, yet not overwhelming and harsh. Well done!
