ogglethorp (882), Ohio, USA Apr 23, 2009 Bottle via adam from BA. Pours a beautiful, lightly hazy, copper color, with a dense pillowy beige head. Aroma is nice mix of pine, floral, spicy, citrusy hops, light caramel. Flavor is again floral, spicy, musty, piney hops, decent caramel backbone. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, finished sticky and nicely bitter. Great stuff, just what I needed! chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 22, 2009 Just got a couple of these in Illinois. This is a fine IPA. Pours orange with a thin off white head. Fantastic floral and citrus aroma with slight caramel malt. Balanced bitterness with a little bit of an oily mouthfeel. Great stuff, I am going to go back to Sam’s to get the rest of their line. CharlesDarwin (1821), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Apr 19, 2009 22oz Bottle purchased at the brewpub. A really juicy, orange-citrus gummy fresh aroma. Dank and superfruity. Like a fresh squeezed glass of orange-juice, or some reduced tangerine, or lime peel. WoW. Pours a crystal clear pale orange-amber, with a nice lacey head. Flavor: damn. This is solid, rock solid. A really crisp, snappy fresh hop flavor plays off of biting, balanced bitterness and a solid tooth of malt. Leafy, minty, and resin-filled hops make a nice profile and a solid, solid rounded palate. Flavorful, rich, balanced, and drinkable. Everything a really well-built IPA should be. Excellent. FlssmrBrewAlum (1053), Lisle, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2009 22 oz bottle from Sam’s South Loop (Chicago, IL). Pours a bright golden amber, lighter hued than usual, transparent, big offwhite cakey head that stays moderate in size, laces pretty well. Aromas throw off moderate hoppiness, florals and citrus greet the nose, not as intense as hoped for, with light resinous pine and light carmel and pale malts. Decent. Initial is lighter bodied, but still packing some good flavor. Citrusy lemon and flower good pine and some carmel, but moreso pale malts. Bitterness evolves strongly. Age might play a factor, but malt doesn’t seem like it would hold much up to fresher/stronger hopping. Finish is clean, lingering pale sweetness, good strong piney quality, with citrusy lemon hop and bitterness sticking well enough. Elements of an APA, and IPA. Hybrid. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2009 22oz bottle 4/17/09 (Sam’s Wine & Spirits-Downers Grove)-Pours a clear dar golden/ligh amber with a big tight off white head which emits an aroma of citrus and hops. Taste begins with citrus and hops then comes some malt and caramel and it finishes dry. This medium bodied brew is pretty unbalanced but tastes great. Look forward to more brews from these guys. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Apr 16, 2009 Bottle thanks to 17thfloor. Clear amber with large creamy white head. Interesting hop perfume aroma with almost resiny citrus, caramel, a little sulphur, sewer smell though. Flavor is caramel, pine, spruce, dry, really hop forward. Medium creamy body. Tasty and really hop forward, I can dig it. yobdoog (1417), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Apr 11, 2009 Bright in color and taste. Aroma is bitter hops. Taste is bitter and astringent. Hops linger a bit. alexanderj (2204), Chino Hills, California, USA Apr 4, 2009 Bottle. Poured an orange-amber, clear. Aroma was nice and strong. Caramel malt, floral, sweet malt, and flowers. Flavor was really bitter for the style. An earthy bitterness in the finish. Citrus and floral as well. Some decenet caramel backbone. Pretty resinous. A light sweetness. Flavor is really bitter for me. Hop bomb. Maybe a bit too much.
