LilBeerDoctor (1475), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle courtesy of bitbucket (thanks Bob!). Pours a clear dirty orange with a thick, foamy head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of bitter and slightly piney hops, wheat cracker malt. Flavor of quite bitter hops and nice crackery malt. Pretty intense but pretty tasty too! Even with the super strong hops, this somehow balances out. Good IPA, nearly double IPA. fredandboboflo (1389), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle. Aroma huge hops, mostly floral and herbal at first, good amount of pine as well, grapefruit appears upon warming. Flavor follows suit, very bitter. Extremely bitter. Not lacking bready malt, but my goodness, this is powerfully hoppy, powerfully bitter. If part of this bitterness is astringency, it’s welcome. Grating on the tongue. A truly in-your-face IPA. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Sep 24, 2008 Updated: Oct 25, 2008Bottle shared by jsquire at patrick767’s local event. Poured a small ivory head, very little carbonation, fair amount of lacing, transparent, and a golden orange hue. The aroma consisted of caramel, citrus hops, pine, orange, and grapefruit. The flavor was caramel, grapefruit, citrus hops, malt, and a nice bitter finish. Tingly mouthfeel and medium bodied. A very drinkable and enjoyable IPA, nicely done and worthy of a try. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Sep 16, 2008 On tap as part of the sampler tray at the Brewery. A really fantastic west coast IPA. Awesome chewy cascade flavor and an in-your-face aroma that draws the drinker right into the glass. I’m really enjoying how incredibly fresh these IPAs are during my visit. jsquire (2085), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Sep 13, 2008 Orange beer with a fluffy off white head that left sheets of sticky lace. Orange rind citrus nose. Lots of citrus rind hops. Biting grapefruit pith finish. Some buscuit and toast in this beer, but it is definitely a hop centered brew. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle from KAggie97. You are the bomb, KAgg! Really! I’m a gonna name a kid or two after you! Pours a nice, thick cheddar orange with a nice ivory head. Aroma is malted orange grapefruit, with subtle hints of tangerine and pine. Nice Isopryl alcohol presence in the background. Flavor is a bit on the malty side, with hints of bread and grapefruit (more of the former). Tangy finish that doesn’t quite add anything to the overall picture. Nice beer, but too malty for my taste. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Aug 27, 2008 22oz bottle, from Secret Santa, RiversideAK, pours a nice copper color like i’d expect, and the smell radiating is just phenomenal tons of grapefruit and hop aroma, taste is awesome as well, just loads of awesomeness.
Very glad i got to try this. ratman197 (3133), Arvada, Colorado, USA Aug 11, 2008 Bomber poured a clear orange with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of pine, carmel, orange, pink grapefruit and a hint of earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, pine, grapefruit and light earthiness with a smooth dry lingering BITTER finish.
