This had won a medal so we were pretty hyped... OK, actually, we were just really drunk and wanted to be part of the excitement! This was strong enough to tnotice (hopswise) and that had to mean that it was extremely hoppy for me to even taste it. There are a dozen beers in my notes before this without any comment, but this one actually mentions the huge hoppy nose and taste. 70 IBUs and 7% ABV are a good match. marcus (1860), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2009 This amber ale poured with a fluffy off-white head and a fruity aroma. This is one hoppy beer, with lots of citrus notes and a very bitter finish. If you’re a hophead you will love this. Otherwise, its’s a bit too bitter. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2007 Pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Smells of big, thick hops, with a substantial malt character to it as well. Mild citrus and grapefruit esters were evident too. The taste is very profound. Strong, yet smooth on the palate. Only mildly bitter, as the hops and malts seem to balance each other out almost perfectly. Nice spice, some subtle cinnaon characters give it some support in the flavor category. Just an overall very good IPA. Cant find much too complain about. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2009 22oz Bottle purchased at the brewpub. A really juicy, orange-citrus gummy fresh aroma. Dank and superfruity. Like a fresh squeezed glass of orange-juice, or some reduced tangerine, or lime peel. WoW. Pours a crystal clear pale orange-amber, with a nice lacey head. Flavor: damn. This is solid, rock solid. A really crisp, snappy fresh hop flavor plays off of biting, balanced bitterness and a solid tooth of malt. Leafy, minty, and resin-filled hops make a nice profile and a solid, solid rounded palate. Flavorful, rich, balanced, and drinkable. Everything a really well-built IPA should be. Excellent. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2006 On draft at Henrys Tavern in Portland. Arrived at the table a clear medium amber with a smal off-white head that diminishes slowly nad leaves amople lace. Good IPA aroma, with toasty malt, clove and oher floral notes along with plentiful piney and grapefruit hops. Flavor is wow, hop city! Initital sweet, fruity malts featuring orange juice and some caramel, is quickly totally overrun by the unabashed hop character, bitter and acidic with pine, grapefruit rind, lime juice and pepper in the finsh. Puckering and powerful. Medium body, and crispy, prickly carbonation. Mmmmmm, hoppy! AmEricanbrew (1808), bankrupt socialistwelfare state, Washington DC, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 16, 2008 Clear amber with a fleeting head. Big citrusy and floral hop aroma with some light caramel sweetness. Medium body and lightly carbonated. Great taste mirrors the aroma with big citrus and floral hop riding a lightly sweet pale male base. Wow, really good ipa here, love to try this on tap sometime. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA
