The aroma is really pleasant, resinous, earthy, pine needles.
Flavor is mostly the citrus resinous hops. There is just enough malt sweetness to smooth the power of the hop blast in this IPA. Has the crispness I expect in a good IPA.
Palate is very nice and a nice lingering bitter citrus alternating with a bit of malt.
Overall I have only one complaint. This 22 ouncer was $6.99 US here in Oregon. I can ony hope this summers’ trip to the brewpub will be a better value. I only live about 65 miles from there and the wife wants to go to the beach this year. cathcacr (590), Portland, Oregon, USA

I like Stone’s IPA so darn much, and this is right there with Stone’s. I think being straight from the tap helps the ratings of great beers. skoisirius (584), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 11, 2008 Sampled: tap and bottle a few times. This is another example of what to do to make an IPA. Tons of sweet malts and hops aromas blast of this brew. The flavor is, again, what an IPA should be: resiny, citrusy, grapefruit, bitter, and balanced. Almost perfect. Definitely recommend checking out this brewery! It’s absolutely beautiful! TheCheeseMan (539), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2008 Courtesy Darkguardian. Pours an almost crystalline, rich yellow. Aroma is very floral, reminding a bit of jasmine or even orange blossoms. Flavor is bright and citrus, full on grapefruit. Very nice beer from a great brewery. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2008 Bottle, thanks Mark: This is a very solid, spicy IPA. Very piney up front, virtually no head as poured from the bottle. Toasted caramel malt in the background. Flavor is a one-two punch of pine and then citrus, with a well-rounded bitter finish. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 24, 2004 Frankenstein time. Aroma is fresh hemp with a whack of passionfruit that I could have sniffed all night. Amber and a bit cloudy with a small head. Way too bitter for me and the hops were quite sticky on the tongue but was nicely passionfruity while I was drinking it. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA

India Pelican Ale pours a slightly dirty golden with very minor orange highlights. Clear with a big 2+ finger dense eggshell white head. Minimal small carbonation bubbles rise to that thick cap of head. Leaves sticky, sheety, chunky lacing after each sip.
Cascade hops hit the nose first and don’t ever leave which is fine by me. Piney with a good amount of bitter grapefruit. A caramel maltiness lurks underneath the hoppy goodness and the nose finishes with a spicy character I’m having a tough time putting my finger on.
Good flavor on this one. Things start off with a caramel creaminess but the hops quickly take over. Smooth grapefruit and orange hoppiness slide over the tongue mid palate and stay flavorful and sweet. On the swallow the grapefruit rind bitterness takes over and lingers. Very nice.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Cabonation gets prickly around the edges of the tongue and that with the solid bitterness give the tongue a good thrashing. Dry finish.
Very drinkable enjoyable IPA. One I could easily sit around and sip away the night.
A quality IPA from Pelican Brewery. Solid West Coast style IPA. I wish Pelican products were available around here, I’d like to try some others.
