Skyview (2933), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Aug 30, 2007 From a 22-oz bomber, via traded with kenb pours a hazy orange amber brew with a good sized off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of spruce/pine, grapefruit zest, some caramel malt and a touch of toffee. Taste is over the top piney/grapefruit. Character has medium body, very light carbonation with flavors of strong northwoods pine, grapefruit, and a touch of tart fruit. Finish is very hoppy and tart bitterness. The grapefruit aftertaste lingers around for a while. This brew will keep the west coast hop-heads happy!
anders37 (2753), Malmö, Sweden Oct 9, 2008 Draught @ the brewpub. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Has a malty hoppy citrus aroma. Sweet malty very hoppy bitter citrus flavor. Has a malty hoppy bitter finish with a long bitter aftertaste. patrick767 (1449), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 28, 2008 bottle at Ft Wayne locals tasting - Pours hazy orange and smells of floral and citrus hops. The flavor is intensely hopped and is definitely a west coast style IPA. The hops profile is very nice, but I thought this one was kind of out of balance. It has a medium body and the expected bitter finish. LilBeerDoctor (645), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle courtesy of bitbucket (thanks Bob!). Pours a clear dirty orange with a thick, foamy head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of bitter and slightly piney hops, wheat cracker malt. Flavor of quite bitter hops and nice crackery malt. Pretty intense but pretty tasty too! Even with the super strong hops, this somehow balances out. Good IPA, nearly double IPA. fredandboboflo (641), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle. Aroma huge hops, mostly floral and herbal at first, good amount of pine as well, grapefruit appears upon warming. Flavor follows suit, very bitter. Extremely bitter. Not lacking bready malt, but my goodness, this is powerfully hoppy, powerfully bitter. If part of this bitterness is astringency, it’s welcome. Grating on the tongue. A truly in-your-face IPA. hotstuff (3045), Indiana, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bottle shared by patrick767. Poured a small ivory head, very little carbonation, fair amount of lacing, transparent, and a golden orange hue. The aroma consisted of caramel, citrus hops, pine, orange, and grapefruit. The flavor was caramel, grapefruit, citrus hops, malt, and a nice bitter finish. Tingly mouthfeel and medium bodied. A very drinkable and enjoyable IPA, nicely done and worthy of a try.
