Commercial Description:
With an abundance of floral, herbal hops and a rich, malty foundation, La Fleur Amere marries an assertive English-style IPA with exotic Belgian-style yeast. Brewed especially for the Oregon Brewers Guild’s "Cheers to Belgian Beers" event, La Fleur Amere features a sparkling light gold color, an aroma of floral, earthy, herbal hops and a fruity, spicy yeast character. A full-bodied, rounded malt character supports copious amounts of hop flavor and also provides a silky texture. La Fleur Amere is dry-hopped with more that a pound of hops ber barrel and finishes with a clean, snappy balance of malt flavor, hop bitterness, and slightly tart, spicy yeast character.

On tap at the brewery on 6/27/09. As it was described to me, this was exactly what I expected. Interesting balance of grapefruit citrus and vanilla aroma with underlying bready/yeast aroma. Typical belgian fruity funky sweetness up front with a balanced bitter finish that left me thinking I just drank an IPA. Very complex and a Belgian IPA is not a style I plan to indulge in often, but this was a great development by Pelican.

Pint – Pelican Pub and Brewery – Pacific City, OR
Aroma: A different Belgian and IPA mixed aroma.
Appearance: Amber in color, hazy with a thin head.
Flavor: The flavor was more of a IPA with a light mixing of Belgian yeast flavor fruity and sweet.
Palate: Dry finish, with a Good IPA Mouthfeel.
Overall: Interesting beer to add Belgian flavors to The beer was fresh and tasty this will develops well when it warms up. Very tasty Belgian IPA.
