Aroma of sweet, lightly oxidized caramel malt and some light fruity notes. Body starts with a pretty full caramel malty sweetness and some earthy hops and toffee with a touch of cardboard before a drier finish. This bottle’s a little past its prime, but this is still a drinkable brew with decent complexity. FlssmrBrewAlum (1182), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 16, 2009 22 oz bottle from Sam’s South Loop (Chicago, IL). Pours a rusty darker amber, slight haze, with moderate tannish head that subsides to a small layer. Light spots of lacing. Aromas preach malts, pushing carmel, toffee, biscuits with vanilla and creaminess. Light florals covered by malts. A touch of toast. Initial fills the style well, lighter bodied than expected, with a good malt body of carmel and toffee, vanilla and cream, with biscuits and a touch of toast. Good, sessionable, and I like the malts. Finish pushes light bitterness on the palate and aftertase, but largely carmel, toffee, and caramel dance. Good, light on body though. Cheers! Cornfield (4980), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

This beastie pours a clear amber body with a thick ecru head. Pretty light aroma (and thin over all) - sweet grainy malt with a splash of caramel and some orchard fruit. Light-bodied, to be sure. It tastes of caramel, toasty grain, and fresh apples. The finish is a watery caramel memory. after4ever (2839), Brier, Washington, USA

Pours a crystal clear garnet with a towering tan head, lots of suds and lace as it settles. Attractive nose of caramel, peat, raisins, and figs. Creamy medium body. Woody, leafy mid-palate with tons of peat, a bit of roast, and lots of brown bread. Very appealing and complex, and right on point with the earthy notes. Refreshing. Medium mouthfeel: chewy dried fruits, caramel, and basic malty sweetness at the core; relaxed carbonation; touch of oiliness in the mouth; decent, drinkable Scottish ale. Medium finish: toasty malts and light fruitiness; balanced end. badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
