Commercial Description:
Our version of the "Wee Heavy" Strong Scoth Ale style is literally a batch of MacPelican's Scottish Ale brewed with half the water and twice the boiling time to create a beer with a massive malty flavor and a deep red color. The aroma hints of rich caramel, cocoa, toffee, and tropical fruit, with a full-bodied mouthfeel and a velvety sweet, slightly dry finish. A robust beer with a dangerous, drinkable smothness!

Thanks to Skyview for sharing this one. This is a very earthy beer, with dirt and vegetable flavor. Quite sweet with malt, no perceivable hops. Very smooth, but thick and heavy also. The alcohol is well hidden. It becomes sweet and the palate smoother as it warms.

Thanks to JMFG for the Pelican goodness. Malt flavors with some chocolate, brown sugar and other sweetness. More and more malts. Good stuff.

On Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom on 5/11/09 Fairly Murkey Brown with a slight ruby glow towards the bottom of the glass with a off-white to slightly beige head. The aroma is very malt forward, lots of sweet aromas, caramel, maybe some brown sugar although faint. The flavor is full of strong smokey, sweet malts and thats really all I get. It seems to be full-bodied and syrupy with a slight semi-dry finish. This isn’t my kind of beer but I’m definitely trying to warm up to more of this style.

Aroma: Great dark malt aroma with lots of sweetness coming out.
Appearance: Brown in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Big Scottish flavors smokey, fresh, with sweet malt. This was blended very well.
Palate: Dry Finish, with a Good Scottish Mouthfeel.
Overall: Big malty flavors with this brew. Love the finish and this beer was just plain tasty. I will be getting this again for sure.

Clear reddish-brown color, almost no head. Deep rich fruity malts, rich Noble hops, a mild bubblegum aroma. Rich mouthfeel. Fruity malts, caramel, very mild hop character, no real smoke or peat notes but still a very nice malty Wee Heavy.

Courtesy JMFG. Pours a fairly hazy brown, with a medium off white head. Smells of dark sweet fruits, some definite caramel malt, and some brown sugar as well. smells like a wee heavy. The flavor was fairly syrupy and sweet, definitely sticky on the palate. The dark fruits and malts really form the bond that creates the flavor profile here as you might expect. very solid brew as expected from these guys, although not outstanding.
