22. Thanks, BVC! Comes with an "11" hand-written on the cap. Is that a best-by date? A number from a limited series? No explanation is given. Maybe it’s their effort to be like Rolling Rock, with the unexplained number on the packaging. Hmmmmm.
Pours a lovely and amazing bright ruby red--I’m not kidding, this beer has jewel tone. It’s beautiful. Thin off-white head of no particular distinction.
Great big malty nose--toffee, brown bread, peat, caramel, toffee. You can already smell the near-caramelization from the long boil. Not a Fourth Dementia, but a malt bomb at the very least.
Creamy medium body--doesn’t hit the tongue like liquid sugar and glue, like so many big american malt bombs do. But it’s still a little sticky. Toasty, a little roasty, plenty of toffee, peat, caramel, and brown bread on the mid-palate. Just where you want a 90-shilling to be, really...not that I’m any great advocate of to-style brewing. Long toasty finish. This is a dandy little scotch.

Courtesy JMFG. Pours a clear looking copper brown colort with a small off white head that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of sweet caramel, toffee, grapes, and other tropical fruits. This one is very sweet smelling with all the malts. The flavor shows more of the sweet tropical fruits and some earthy hops to go with the richly sweet caramel and brown sugar base. Taste is reminisent of a cherry jolly rancher. Medium bodied and smooth, but a touch syrupy from all the malts with a long, sweet finish. This one is a bit too sweet and fruity for the style. Not bad, but not what I look for in a scottish ale.

Pours a clear but dark ruby brown with a medium head, which never fully fades. Aroma is well attenuated with lots of earthiness and wet leafiness, very moor-ish. Lightly sweet and soil-y. Taste is similar with a bit of a candied sweetness coming through with plenty of dark, earthy maltiness and again that soul-like flavor. Just a bit of alcohol present throughout. I really liked this and need to drink it again.

Bottle courtesy JMFG. Pours a deep copper with a thin white head. Sweet malty aroma, hints fruit and citrusy hops. Sweet malt body with a good hop bite and hints of toffee. Very fragrant and tasty.

Bottle, courtesy JMFG. Pours a clear copper color with a minimal, off-white head. The foam settles quickly to a wispy film, leaving a sudsy wash to moatly rejoin the body. Aromas are a bit odd, notes of sweet grape, caramel, and fig conficting with one another, with a saccharine brown sugar overtone. Flavors are similarly off-kilter, sweet fruits and oddly vegetal notes showing amidst a caramel and brown sugar malt base. There is no peat to be found, something I typically relish within the style. Medium bodied and smooth, the mouthfeel is a bit syrupy and overly sweet. I’m not impressed with this one.

Bottle thanks to JMFG. Coppery color. Hell of alot of caramel, sugar and toffee. Alcohol is a bit strong in the smell, but not so much in the taste at all. Really liked the texture and taste.

Bottle… Mostly clear orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The luxuriant aroma is a malty, fruity swirl of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, medium sherry and a tropical fruit blend. Full-bodied with a slick, oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Fruity, malty, vinous flavor. Lengthy, sugary, toffee and caramel finish. Thanks to JMFG for sharing a very nice version of my favorite style!

Bottle courtesy hopscotch. Reddish copper color. Heavily caramelized melanoidin malt nose. Maybe there’s a hint of spicy hop. Flavor is nicely caramelized sweet malt dominated.
