Commercial Description:
Our version of the "Wee Heavy" Strong Scoth Ale style is literally a batch of MacPelican's Scottish Ale brewed with half the water and twice the boiling time to create a beer with a massive malty flavor and a deep red color. The aroma hints of rich caramel, cocoa, toffee, and tropical fruit, with a full-bodied mouthfeel and a velvety sweet, slightly dry finish. A robust beer with a dangerous, drinkable smothness!

Bottle courtesy of Retorp. Pours a clear amber with a small lasting off-white head that leaves good lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of caramel, sweet malt, earthy hops, and a touch of toasted malt. Taste is the same as aroma but more prominent. medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. A damn fine brew.

courtesy of cigarcitybrew. pours amber with beige head. Aroma is fruity with notes of cherry and loaded with caramel malts. There is an enjoyable candi sugar nose coupled with a touch of vanilla. Taste is very smooth and sweet. I noted more of the dark fruits than in aroma with this light creamy vanilla mouthfeel. At 8abv, the beer will not let you down. The overall aspect coats the palate and leaves you wanting for more.

Finally, my second brew sampled from Pelican. YES. Pours copper to deep red cherry with thin tan head. The aroma is a smack in the face with a sack of ripe cherries backed up by raisins, some grainy malts, roasted malts and biscuit. Very fruity. The taste is similar with a load of rich sweet cherry goodness then moving toward sugar sweet malts and vanilla cream soda note just beyond midway. Very cherry brew.

Thanks retorp for the share. Pours copper with a small off white head. Aroma is sugar, cherry, some smoke, and sweet malt. Flavor has a nice malty backbone with caramel, cherry, and honey sweetness and a sweet finish. Great beer.

Bottle courtesy of Retorp. Pours a dark brown color with reddish highlights and a thin white head. Aroma is malty with notes of phenol, honey, hops, fresh flowers and some slightly earthy notes. Flavor is malty and sweet with notes of caramel, honey, cherries, phenol, and just a hint of ripe dark fruits. Generally medium body with a malty and sweet finish.

Polished off a bottle last night at a party, but it was too awkward to take notes. Moderately sweet, alcohol was well hidden. Lots of cherry, toffee, fig, whisky and milk chocolate notes. The mouth was fairly smooth and malt accented. Finished with lingering toffee notes. Very well put together.

Green Dragon meet the brewer night. Dark copper pour with a smooth beige head. Heavy malt base, sweet caramel, soft earthy quality, but siding more towards an american strong ale with all the hops. Fruity malts, giving an almost cherry like flavor in the finish.

Purchased a 22-oz bomber from the brewery’s internet sales. Pours a dark copper amber brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring yes has a decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with some dried peat, flowery hops, figs and a touch of toffee. Taste is full bodied, some carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, more peat and smoke flavor than scent with flowery and toffee. Finish is semi-sweet with some mild alcohol presence with a smooth caramel malt aftertaste. One of Pelican Pub’s finest!
