The luxuriant aroma is a malty, fruity swirl of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, medium sherry and a tropical fruit blend. Full-bodied with a slick, oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Fruity, malty, vinous flavor. Lengthy, sugary, toffee and caramel finish. Thanks to JMFG for sharing a very nice version of my favorite style! ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 28, 2009 dark/burnt caramel brown. nose: oxidized caramel malt, burnt maple, light notes of acetone, dirt/soil/minerals. chewy, syrupy, over-sweet approach. medium body, turns mildly frothy in the finish with a black pepper and spiced molasses note. finish is resinous and deeply rich, but it’s really the only positive attribute of this beer. not one of their best efforts. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Purchased a 22-oz bomber from the brewery’s internet sales. Pours a dark copper amber brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring yes has a decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with some dried peat, flowery hops, figs and a touch of toffee. Taste is full bodied, some carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, more peat and smoke flavor than scent with flowery and toffee. Finish is semi-sweet with some mild alcohol presence with a smooth caramel malt aftertaste. One of Pelican Pub’s finest! badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Courtesy of Skyview. Copper color with a thin head. Light peat aroma. Much bigger peat hit in the taste. Caramel and toasted malts, finishing slightly buttery. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

This is a very earthy beer, with dirt and vegetable flavor. Quite sweet with malt, no perceivable hops. Very smooth, but thick and heavy also. The alcohol is well hidden. It becomes sweet and the palate smoother as it warms. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2008 Green Dragon meet the brewer night. Dark copper pour with a smooth beige head. Heavy malt base, sweet caramel, soft earthy quality, but siding more towards an american strong ale with all the hops. Fruity malts, giving an almost cherry like flavor in the finish. after4ever (2795), Brier, Washington, USA

A number from a limited series? No explanation is given. Maybe it’s their effort to be like Rolling Rock, with the unexplained number on the packaging. Hmmmmm. Pours a lovely and amazing bright ruby red--I’m not kidding, this beer has jewel tone. It’s beautiful. Thin off-white head of no particular distinction. Great big malty nose--toffee, brown bread, peat, caramel, toffee. You can already smell the near-caramelization from the long boil. Not a Fourth Dementia, but a malt bomb at the very least. Creamy medium body--doesn’t hit the tongue like liquid sugar and glue, like so many big american malt bombs do. But it’s still a little sticky. Toasty, a little roasty, plenty of toffee, peat, caramel, and brown bread on the mid-palate. Just where you want a 90-shilling to be, really...not that I’m any great advocate of to-style brewing. Long toasty finish. This is a dandy little scotch. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA

Pours copper to deep red cherry with thin tan head. The aroma is a smack in the face with a sack of ripe cherries backed up by raisins, some grainy malts, roasted malts and biscuit. Very fruity. The taste is similar with a load of rich sweet cherry goodness then moving toward sugar sweet malts and vanilla cream soda note just beyond midway. Very cherry brew.
