Classic wee heavy nose. Big caramel malts… very similar to Stone’s Double Bastard. Has nuts, molasses, fruit cake, pit fruit, and ripe cherries. Medium body, full flavor. Decent carbonation. Creamy and sticky. Cherry skins. Sticky, prickly finish. Coats your lips. I barely have half a snifter down and thinking the rest of the bomber is going work me over. Only 8.0% huh?... | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Purchased a 22-oz bomber from the brewery’s internet sales. Pours a dark copper amber brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring yes has a decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with some dried peat, flowery hops, figs and a touch of toffee. Taste is full bodied, some carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, more peat and smoke flavor than scent with flowery and toffee. Finish is semi-sweet with some mild alcohol presence with a smooth caramel malt aftertaste. One of Pelican Pub’s finest! TimE (1301), Tokyo, Japan

Moderately sweet, alcohol was well hidden. Lots of cherry, toffee, fig, whisky and milk chocolate notes. The mouth was fairly smooth and malt accented. Finished with lingering toffee notes. Very well put together. after4ever (2762), Brier, Washington, USA

A number from a limited series? No explanation is given. Maybe it’s their effort to be like Rolling Rock, with the unexplained number on the packaging. Hmmmmm. Pours a lovely and amazing bright ruby red--I’m not kidding, this beer has jewel tone. It’s beautiful. Thin off-white head of no particular distinction. Great big malty nose--toffee, brown bread, peat, caramel, toffee. You can already smell the near-caramelization from the long boil. Not a Fourth Dementia, but a malt bomb at the very least. Creamy medium body--doesn’t hit the tongue like liquid sugar and glue, like so many big american malt bombs do. But it’s still a little sticky. Toasty, a little roasty, plenty of toffee, peat, caramel, and brown bread on the mid-palate. Just where you want a 90-shilling to be, really...not that I’m any great advocate of to-style brewing. Long toasty finish. This is a dandy little scotch. skoisirius (574), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours a dark, thick looking amber brown with a dark red tone to it. Not much head on this guy, it quickly receded to the sides of the glass. What is there is very tanned. The aroma has a very thick and heavy toffee hint with a very powerful dark and sweet malt nose. The flavor brings a very velvety carmalized malt and dark fruity (cherries and plums) taste at the start, which progresses into a well balanced hop noted alcohol finish that is present, but hiding at the same time. Nicely full-bodied, while being very smooth at the same time. So good, I had to bring a growler home with me! markwise (1184), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
