Commercial Description:
Stormwatcher’s Winterfest is the perfect brew to savor on a stormy Oregon Coast day. Its deep amber-red color, massive toasted malt, toffee and caramel aroma, and full-bodied malty flavor lead to a smooth, soft and warming finish. The floral aroma and flavor highlights come from Hersbrucker hops, while a toasted malt sweetness balances a mild, subtle bitterness in the finish. Its big, rich flavor makes it the ideal complement to nasty weather!

22 oz. bottle - thanks to mnapier for sharing at liquid sunshine; pours clear dark amber with slight tan head fading to the edges; sweet aromas of sugar, toffee, candy and alcohol; medium body and quite tasty; only knock being that it was quite dry; not quite as good as the ’05 mirror mirror, but way better than the ’02 rogue crusty

Sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective barley wine tasting on 3.14.09. Dark amber color with a medium tan head. Sugary malt aroma with some fruit influence. Creamy and sweet flavor up front with alcohol and a touch of hop in the finish. Good stuff, and gets the nod over ’05.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective Barley Wine tasting on 03/14/2009: Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. The beer pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium thin beige head that diminishes slowly. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of ripe fruit, dark malt and hops. Rich and syrupy body with flavors of roasted malt, caramel and dark fruit. Decent amount of hops in the background as well. The finish is full and malty with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Very good overall, and probably my favorite of the ’05-’07 vertical.

Bottle from mnapier. The aroma is very sweet and very fruity. Lots of ripe dark fruits. Auburn colored brew with almost no heads, some remnants of foam around the edges. Just a shit ton of sweet dark fruity malts in this beer, some toffee. Tartness too. Lots of carbonation, and booze. This one was really in your face and I agree, could probably use some more time to mellow.

another one from our barely wine night. 2006 vintage nice amber color decent off white bubbles, nose is odd... a bit of barnyard along with sweet malts and booze, ok beer flavor is nice, sour nose is a tease. could use maybe another year.

Thank you for bringing to our barleywine night, Derek. 2006 is entered on the label. Big off-white head with a cheese appearance and bubbles. Some lace seen. The smell is sour and barleywine. The taste is considerably on the sour side, it is intentional. Primarily it tastes like an average barleywine.Somewhat disapointing for a barleywine with some ageing. Mt. Hood hops. 31 IBU.

22oz bottle, courtesy of mnapier. Thanks, Paul! Pours a dense, slightly oily ruby / burgundy color; minimal head; nicely viscous. Decent amounts of dried red fruits, caramel, and warming alcohol in the aroma; generous and a touch hot. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of chewy red fruits, caramel, dark fruits (raisins, dates), and, again, some warming alcohol present; just a touch rough. Lengthy finish: numbing alcohol, dried red fruits, and some caramel; again, warming.
