Commercial Description:
Stormwatcher’s Winterfest is the perfect brew to savor on a stormy Oregon Coast day. Its deep amber-red color, massive toasted malt, toffee and caramel aroma, and full-bodied malty flavor lead to a smooth, soft and warming finish. The floral aroma and flavor highlights come from Hersbrucker hops, while a toasted malt sweetness balances a mild, subtle bitterness in the finish. Its big, rich flavor makes it the ideal complement to nasty weather!

Bottle pours a clear deep mahogany with a modest but lasting tan head. Very nice carmel .alt aroma. Brown sugar and tanned leather. Flavor is sweet and malty. Some ABV burn and flavor. Some bitterness but mostly big sweet malts. A bit chalky and heavy smooth palatte.

22oz Bottle enjoyed with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy & Rudolf. My bottle courtesy of Snbw111. One of the better barleywine i’ve had to date. Very roasty & sweet aroma. alcohol well hidden no idea it was 13.3%. sweet taste with a little alcohol dance of the tongue. malty. good beer with good company

Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, rudolf & swoopjones -- courtesy of swoopjones. Pours a murky deep reddish-brown with a small diminishing beige head. Aroma has lots of fruit, some wood, toasted malt, spices, hops and alcohol -- lots going on here and it smells great! Flavour: Whoa that’s tasty! And packs a punch! Toasted malt, dark fruit, alcohol, caramel and lots of hops. Medium to full bodied. This is a fantastic Barley Wine -- but make sure you share this sucker as it WILL kick your ass! Many thanks to Mike for sharing this beauty!

Bottle (22oz). Shared with blankboy, Rudolf and Soopjones - MOST generously shared by Swoopjones. THIS is a great little barleywine - very smooth and winter-friendly - but make sure you share this MoFo! Poured a deep ruby with a smallish beige lasting head. The smell is very pleasant - sweet roast malt, medium alcohol, plenty of spice with floral hops and even a bit of lactose as it warms. The taste - oh, my - smiles all ’round our table; sure it was 95 degrees outside and we’re drinking a freakin’ BW, but we all loved that taste - soft, sweet and spicy, enough hops to remind you they’re there, lightly carbonized but not that burnt boozy palate kick some -even the best- can be; just smooth, deceptively boozy ("what’s the ABV? Nothing written?" Guesses were 7.5%, 9% - and this is 13.3?!!!!) - very warming at the end, 22oz of this need to be respected. Almost sugary, decently thick mouthfeel, not much carbonation but who wants it? - sweet malty/spicy mouthfeel, linger and finish, and a booze kick near the end that really catches you by surprise. Astonishingly drinkable barleywine, I want more, but more important - thanks for sharing, Mike!

Bomber. Aroma of light molasses and dark fruit. Dark, occluded, ruby color with a beige head that went poof. Medium bodied, with creamy, moderate carbonation. The flavor is sweet dark fruits. There is heat. The toasted malt and caramel seems to come after the fruit aspects. Overall, the palate is quite nice. The finish is less than dry, but it certainly has enough bitter to balance the sweetness. Impressive, and nigh overpowering.

Bottle from Uber. Dark reddish brown with huge head and crazy carbonation. Aroma of sweet maple syrup/brown sugar malt and a bit of floral hops. Pretty smooth for 13.3%, but definitely quite sweet. More malt than hops in the taste, but with quite a bitter finish. As it warms, the alcohol is definitely more harsh.

22 oz from bottletrek.com. Pours a dark brown with a nice red hue. Aroma of dark fruit, sweet caramel malt, and mild floral notes. Flavor is similiar with toasted malt and brown sugar. Medium to full mouthfeel with a sweet and mild bitterness finish. Watch out for the alcohol, you will not notice it and it will sneak up and kick your ass. Awesome barley wine!
