Commercial Description:
The Summer Ales of England inspire our newest seasonal beer, Surfer's Summer Ale. With a brilliant gold color, and a fruity, tangerine-like aroma from the English First Gold hops, Surfer's Summer Ale is a refreshing, tasty treat. A sweet, toasted malt flavor comes from the English Maris Otter malt, and combines with bread-like wheat character to give this beer a full-bodied, rounded malt aspect. Finishing smooth and clean, Surfer's Summer Ale exhibits a wonderful balance of character.

Draft at the Pelican. Light malt aroma, perhaps with a bit of hop. Brassy gold color with a white head. Medium bodied. Starts with wheat, has some citrus sour, malty sweetness and enough bitter to fairly balance the malt. A bit wheaty in the finish. Nice bitter remnants in the mouth.

Bronze-gold w. nice, lacy head. Light, European hopping in aroma, with flavor of subtle golden promise(?) backbone. Surprisingly crisp with a strong wheat?? presence.Easy hopping and belgian bready malt notes become apparent. Kolsch-like yeast character.

[Tap - Pelican Brew Pub] This was a fresh keg and wow the beer oued so awesome. New batch new keg am I special? This was a off golden yellow color very clear and easy to drink. Liked the underlying flavors of malts and light hops. This woud be perfect for a super hot day after yeard work.

Dry hopped with Sterling at the OBF. Amazingly soft on the palatte. Very mild hops- doesn’t taste dry-hopped at all. Became very boring.

(Draft: Pelican Pub & Brewery in Pacific City, OR) Although the waves don’t seem all that conducive to surfing (at least not today), at least the surfers have a beer named after them. Pleasant malt flavor is mildly sweet and lightly toasty, and the gentle hops have minimal bitterness. Very lightly toasty malt in the nose, but like the flavor, is minimally hoppy. Light-to-medium body, but very smooth and easy on the palate. Medium golden color is fully clear, and the off-white head starts small and fades away quickly. Not my kind of beer, but for a summer golden ale, this is quite flavorful.

Tap. Light golden colored with a long lived white head which leaves great lacing. Nice crisp hop aroma, citric, a bit dry smelling if that is possible. Light bodied. Drying on the palate. I don’t get the biscuit from the Maris Otter. Well hopped with malt just hanging in there to balance the citric hop burps. Nice for the style.

On tap at the brewery. Porus a light gold with a white head. An unusual salty seafood flavor comes through in the aftertaste, and no I wasn’t sitting outside near the beach. Kinda pilsner malt smelling nose with a crisp grassy dried out staw hop edge. Slight honey taste up fron followed by a light hop crisp finish.

Clear yellow/straw color. Good head and lacing. Light sweet malt nose with lemon notes. Mild hop flavor with a lemon twist and a light finish
