| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 20, 2006 Pours out a jet black color, very minimal highlights with a foamy tan head. First thing that hits you is the coffe ground aroma. Unfortunately, it’s a one-trick pony and nothing else came from the aroma. Smallish hops in the flavor department, little on flavor as well. I could pick up sweet malts, roasted malts, a bit of dark chocolate and a little hops. Overall I thought it was just an okay stout. Nothing to rave about. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Pours out a dark brown color with a thick tan head. Smell is full of roasted malts, dark chooclate, coffee, some hops. Taste is smooth and rich, very thick mouthfeel. Reminded me of an imperial stout. A very well done beer, deserving of its top of the foreign stouts. Great stuff. jcwattsrugger (5528), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Aromas of coffee, chocolate and just a touch of black liccorice. Flavor is coffee, dark baking chocolate, lots of dark fruit, and some cocoa. There is a little molasses there and maybe a touch of liccorice as well. Full bodied with low carbonation and an oily mouthfeel. Very nice stout here.. harrisoni (6828), Ashford, Kent, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 3, 2006 On tap at Pelican Pub and Brewery, Pacific City, OR. Black colour with tan head. Choccy malt aroma. Smooth in mouth, quite grainy/powdery on finish with lots of coffee. Dark choc, but powdery. Not bad, intense powdery choc finish. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2006 Bomber, courtesy of kenb. The obligatory chocolate/coffee in high concentration makes up the bulk of the aroma. Strong roasted malt elements follow with am ever so faint hint of brown sugar and chocolate cake. The body is an uncanny stygian black. One of the darker beers you’ll see. The head starts off a full two fingers thick, but slowly compresses down to a thumb thick mocha affair. The fore features highly concentrated burnt/roasted malt with dark chocolate and dry cocoa notes. Some slightly sulphery blackstrap molasses and nutty notes in the dry chcolatey finish. Great palate. Solid aroma. Decent flavor. TheBeerGod (3163), Newport News, Virginia, USA

Nose is chocolate, roasted malts, light molasses, and sugared and creamed coffee. Taste is more roasted malts, light coffee, notes, bittersweet chocolate, and lightly burnt chocolate chip cookies. Mouthfeel has moderate carbonation. Medium overall feel to it. Ends with more choco notes, coffee, roasted malts, and brown sugar. Touch of molasses as well. Nise stuff! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Wow, thanks to KenB for this one. Pours onxy, no light transmittance, with 1-finger tan head. Aroma is roasty dark patent malt, chocoff, brown sugar, some molasses and almonds. Tastes roasty malty, on the dry side, with a rich chocoff, molasses, and cherry note. Finishes sry, hefty on the palate, roasty, woth more chocolate and coffee. Very well done, and an elite stout.
