| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 26, 2004 Bottle pours black, dark brown highlights, large tannish foamy head, with fairly attractive lacing. Coffee, roasted malts, and a semi-sweet or dry chocolate aroma. Burnt malts, coffee, and bakers chocolate on the tongue. A bit chalky, but definitely dry. Good body, moderate mouthfeel. Long finish, just as it started. I think this to be a great example of the style. Not overly dry, with great body and flavor. Could be a bit thicker, but good nonetheless.

Light brown creamy head that leaves a nice ring in the glass. Dry bitter chocolate aroma with sweet vanilla and strawberry(?). Exceptional taste... light roasted chocolate. .Leaves a roasted metallic feeling on the tongue. Palate is so-so. A little thin. But I’m all about the flavor of this one. Very good. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, semi-dry, bitter finish. Finally an awesome stout that’s not Imperial....

This beer rocks...Midnight black with a small, creamy, very well-tanned head. Good retention. The nose is of milk chocolate and vanilla, cherries, a touch of port and a whisper of buttermilk. Perfectly balanced and very burnt with notes of dusty cocoa powder and espresso grounds. Moderately bitter. Medium-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Short, bitter finish.
