On tap at Barcade. Pours a hazy dark brown to black with a thin white head. Caramel, malt, vanilla. Sweet, caramel, spicy, malty, chocolate, almost a bit of vanilla. Medium body. Light bitter finish with some bitter cocoa.
NJJereme (261), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA Aug 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown color w/ an off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, malts, a smidgen of coffee and a hint of fruit. Medium bodied. Fairly easy on the palate. Pretty good stuff. TheBeerBaron (218), Florida, USA Aug 2, 2009 Dark translucent brown with a medium thick tan head that sticks around rather than dissapeering. A bit of carbonation is active but hard to see in the dark color. A sweet caramel and honey aroma mixed with coffee like malt. There may be a smidgen of hop aroma but its obliterated by the malt and sugar. T he taste is malty and bitter chocolate tasting. It is not as sweet a flavor as the aroma leads on. A strong taste of hops makes a flavor balance to this beer. This is a great tasting package of a beer at an economical price. Recommended. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Jul 7, 2009 Comes out of the bottle a dark chocolaty brown that is slightly translucent, capped by a fairly thick pale tan head. Malty, slightly spicy aroma has a hint of molasses. Rich malty aroma has strong tones of cinnamon and cloves and a touch of caramel. Texture is smooth and fizzy. Quite satisfying. WVHouseofBeer (336), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 10, 2009 Right on target with this grade, as just above 3 serves it justice. A good if not slightly watered Dunkel. While the malts give it a nice, blackened flavor you will not find resemblance if you are looking for a counterpart to Sam Adams Black Lager.
chandler0201 (341), Durham, North Carolina, USA Mar 19, 2009 Brown pour with small tan head. Some spice and toffee in the aroma, flavor more of yeasts and hops. Basic dunkel, decently drinkable.
