I bought a variety pack once and was disappointed to not find this in it. It was worth the wait. Lots of chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors. A malty delight. A very good beer all the way around. I’ve relly been into doppel bocks recently and this really seemed to be like a session version of a doppel bock.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a flat, medium to dark brown with red highlights and a small,. off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was moderate caramel, dark chocolate and mild coffee. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and bitter, while the finish was heavily sweet, moderately acidic and bitter with an average duration. The medium body was slightly syrupy but dry with fizzy carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA

Very mild, nothing exciting here. The taste is mild as well. Some yeast, really light chocolate, and dark malts. Easy drinking, but lacking on the flavor aspect. Some bitterness and even the slightest bit of some caramel as well. Drinkable, but not exciting in the least bit. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

Pours a clear dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Nose is toasty with a little lager yeast. Taste starts with some sweet caramel and honey, then some toasted bread, some almonds, and some very mild hops in the end. Quite tasty. Body is medium, carbonation is average. I really like this one. redlight (1496), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 22, 2007 Subtle roasty aroma, hints of chocolate. Pours dark brown almost black with a thick white head. Very light, crisp, notes of dark malts and spicy hallertau hops. Not bad, a little light, but easily accessible to the public. obguthr (1067), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 20, 2007 Moderately strong bouquet of chocolate malts and maple syrup. Dark brown and clear, with a thin tan head, some lacing. Rich and tart flavor of good hops, raisins, and smoke. Hop finish and well timed. The alcohol isn’t well concealed and is especially prevalent at the end. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2007 Dark beer with amber highlights when held against the light. Short lived fizzy beige head. Nose of burnt caramel and wet grain. Thin caramel sweetness with some burnt sugar and burnt buttered toast notes. There is an almost plastic flavor in the back somewhere. Good with a sandwich. dkoonce (899), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 15, 2007 Clear and dark, with a thin, but durable, tan head. Lots of effervescence, it almost reminds me of a cola. Very malty aroma, with chocolate and vanilla dominating. A little bit sour and too heavy for a lager. gunhaver (1043), Tampa, Florida, USA
