Commercial Description:
Munich and various roasted malts give it a very malty, rich flavor with a hint of burnt flavor. 100% imported Hallertau hops, moderate bitterness and aroma.

Gift from Aurelius - beer of the month club leftover - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour with a thin but long lasting mocha head - decent lacing. Hint of chocolate in the aroma with a touch of fresh lake water and bubble gum. Flavor has a touch of caramel, some smoky notes, hints of maple syrup and a bit of a metallic bent to the finish which dampens my enthusiasm for this one just a bit. Mouthfeel is a tad thin.

Tap at Barcade. The last dunkel I tried before this one was Hacker Pschorr Dunkel lager, so this seemed like coors light next to that one. Pours a deep amber, off-white head. Cheap malts, almosy soysauce like. A bit metallic.

A sweeter brew, lots of Syrup flavor, abit less sweetness would have helped this one, Aftertaste has some bitterness, but I’ll pass next time!

Poured a deep mahogany with a fast, tan head that fizzed away quickly to a hairline of halo. Roasty, husky, worty, coffee-like aromas with a dash of oatmeal cookies. Thin and overcarbonated. Tart, burnt flavor of overcooked coffee atop a chocolate base that carries across sweetly into an otherwise bitter/sour finish.

Bottle. Clear dark amber color with a medium dark beige head. Weird nose, not very appealing, with some creamed corn scents, some sour maple and some brown maple sap yeast scents as well. DMS is a bit too strong in this one. Flavor is simple maple and brown sugar flavored malts, with some decent toasted grains and bready flavors, and the palate is lightly bitter and a bit thin.

Very drinkable, perhaps a bit too plain. Dark malty aroma, cereal caste. This was an unusual circumstance that I actually preferred Penn’s lighter offerings. Medium to medium heavy mouth, but a little underbittered.

Bottle. Pours brown orange, tan head. Aroma is caramel, molasses, and oats. Flavor is caramel, oats, malt, sour dough. Tastey, but too watery. I’m disappointed.

Reddish brown appearance , medium white head, no lacing. Malty aroma with hints of molassas. Well carbonated but the palate was pretty thin textured. Roasted malt taste, some caramel notes, some fruitiness. Finish was short lived.
