The aroma is nice but light. It has caramel, roasted malt, and yeast. The appearance is brown with a medium head. The flavor is toasty with caramel and some bitterness. The palate is thin but smooth. The aftertaste is coffee like. Overall not bad but could be better.

Pours a dark brown cola type color with a soda-like fizzy head that laced like soda (ie. all phoney carbonation). The aroma had some chocolate and some chemical and soapy type touch to it, the latter two which were distracting. Flavor was much better than the aroma, an odd blend of molasses, chocolate, light coffee, gentle roastedness, and some nutty and a lightly hopped dry finish. Mouthfeel was moderate to above moderate for the style. An ok beer, but I’d have to have it a few more times (particularly on draft) before I make my mind up on what I think of it.

Dark amber beer with a light tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, vanilla, light smoke, and slightly tangy hops. Not much bitterness. An interesting mix of flavors, well balanced and highly drinkable. I like dunkels and I like this one. $8.99 for a six pack at Broudy’s, Jacksonville FL.

(Bottle via trade from <!-- A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=1 target=blank -->Degarth<!-- /A -->, thanks Joe!) Pours the color of very dark iced tea. Over 2" of rocky biscuit head in my willibecher. Hint of sourishness in aroma, otherwise light caramel, chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, a little tingly upfront and in finish. Poor lacing. Tastes very mildly of coffee and chocolate. Fairly malty. OK stuff but would have liked more oomph in the flavor.

Bottle. Pours deep amber with a light tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, floral, and caramel. Flavor is roast, sweet caramel, weak, with a slight bitter hoppy finish. Ok body, decent brew.

Large light brown head of fine bubbles. Good carbonation. Head recedes slowly. Nice malty and roasted grain aroma. Hint of vanilla and toast. Color is a dark brown with some strong red hues when placed in front of a light. Light and fizzy in the mouth. Weak flavor with a bit of roasted grains and a touch of rough bitterness. Clean dry and bitter finish. Needs more malt body and flavor to be a good dunkel. This is nothing more than a slightly darks lager.

Bottled. Pours dark amber with a pale tan head. A tiny bit of floral hops along toasty malt in the nose. Medium body with medium carbonation. Nutty, caramel vanilla malty sweetness in the flavor. Clean finish with a hint of bitterness. Subtle and nicely balanced.
