I don’t detect much aroma at all. It has a dark golden red color, with lively small carbonation bubbles. The lacing is pronounced at first, but then fades to speckled ghost lacing. Solid mouthfeel, but just never really hits any part of my palate from first tongue touch all the way to finish. The malts seem weakly represented, and the hops virtually undetectable. Certainly not a beer I’ll be sending in a beer trade... 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA

Aroma has a nice chocolate hint in the malts. The malts in the flavor grow as it warms in your mouth releasing flavors of caramel and chocolate finishing very well balaced with a light roast. Very smooth and balanced brew. NJBeerman013 (783), Trenton, New Jersey, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2004 From the bottle. Pours a amber brown, with a tan head that left little lacing. The initial aroma was fruity, and then nutty, but as it warms I pick up malt and honey. It has a nice malty flavor that finishes dry and bitter, but not overly intense. The body is good but it seems to slip off the sides of the tongue a little. Overall this is a really nice dunkel. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

The aroma is subtle with just a hint of sweetness. This was a most pleasant surprise that I received from a beer club and, if it was available locally, I would keep a regular supply on hand.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 4, 2004 Pours dark brown almost black with thin tan head. There is some roasted flavor and burnt malt, a hint of sweetness and finishes with a hint of hops. Mouthfeel was a little thin and I would have liked to have seen a little more of all the flavors.
It was easy to drink, perhaps a good session brew.
